Pietersen hits back at Border

Kevin Pietersen has lashed out at previous comments made by Allan Border, which indicated that he felt the English batsman had returned home too quickly after suffering a broken rib.

Responding to the accusation, Pietersen told the News of the World, “Border has questioned my patriotism, loyalty, commitment, integrity, courage and temperament…Nobody, not even him, needs to question those things…Border was a fantastic player, but 156 Tests do not give you a medical degree…It’s just nonsense from someone I have never met and now don’t want to after his outburst.”

Pietersen went on to clarify the situation, saying that there was a 48 hour delay between x-rays and his flight home because he had to ensure that his lung was not punctured.
