Nafees Wins Bangladeshi Award

Bangladesh opener Shariar Nafees has been named his country’s Cricketer of the year in their annual awards ceremony. He also took the best batsman award, having his performances in both forms of the game rewarded.

Nafees rose to fame in April when he scored 138 against Australia in the first Test. He also scored 79 against the Aussies at Chittagong, and Bangladesh’s highest one-day score, 118 against Zimbabwe. He has recently been named Bangladesh’s vice-captain.

Best bowler and best all-rounder went to veteran spinner Mohammed Rafique, Saqibul Hasan took best emerging player and young batsman Mehrab Hossain jnr took the Young Tiger Award.
