More surgery for Vaughan

On Monday, after a meeting between the England and Yorkshire physios, Michael Vaughan will find out if he is to have an operation on his injured knee. One of the reasons behind the decision will be Vaughan’s worsening condition in Yorkshire’s County Championship defeat against Sussex, a match where he spent most of the time whilst Yorkshire fielded in the dressing room.

Due to the inflammation of Vaughan’s knee, it is almost certain that he will miss Yorkshire’s C&G match against Worcestershire.

“A fourth operation on his knee is a possibility but at this stage nothing has been set in stone and the situation needs to be carefully assessed,” Scott McAllister, Yorkshire’s physiotherapist, said to the Northern Echo newspaper.

If the operation is to go ahead then it will sideline Vaughan for the rest of the season.
