Jelly beans overshadow Test win

Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan has slammed England for throwing jelly beans onto the pitch to distract him while he was batting.

Umpires Ian Howell and Simon Taufel had to step in when Khan exchanged words with England’s slip fielders.

Khan had the following to say during a press conference, and said the whole incident inspired him for his bowling performance yesterday where he took five wickets in helping India win the test by seven wickets.

“There were some incidents that happened on the field while I was batting. It definitely inspired me to do well.”

“On the crease there was a jelly bean while I was batting so I chucked one off the wicket and when I played the next ball there were again some jelly beans there on the wicket.”

“So obviously someone was chucking (them) from behind on the wicket which I didn’t like so I just went up to them and said, ‘Guys what is this all about, I’m here to play cricket’.

“So they came at me and I was upset about it and I just reacted accordingly.

“I didn’t know exactly from where it was coming, maybe I blamed the wrong one, I was just not bothered at that time because I just felt it was insulting. When I removed it, it shouldn’t have come there again.”

The third and final Test is at The Oval starts on 9th August.
