Gilchrist fined for dissent

Adam Gilchrist has been fined 40% of his match fee after showing dissent towards a run-out decision.

The incident, which took place during at match at Brisbane on January 15, occured when Aleem Dar declined the option of referring a run-out appeal to the third umpire. Gilchrist was then seen forcefully questioning Dar’s decision.

After pleading guilty to the charge, Match Referee Jeff Crowe made the decision to dock 40% of his match fee, the maximum for dissent is 50%. “Adam immediately pleaded guilty to the charge, understanding the need to end this sort of action on the field during play.” Crowe said.

Gilchrist is the third Australian to be charged with a code of conduct violation after fast bowling pair Brett Lee and Glenn McGrath were reprimanded for their behaviour in the Sydney test.
