Yeah NZ A should be strong not dominant, otherwise it might indicate a problem with your pipeline unless your national team is dominant. A bit like an NRL NSW Cup team.

Been a funny little tournament for captain Lennox. Bowling himself at the death due to being a class above, and farming lower-order wickets (most not even slogging). Continuing on from his 14-wicket ODI series in the Windies. Ashok also doing very well tbf.

With this knock from Jacobs, it looks like NZ A have still managed to progress to the semis. Apart from Lennox, Ashok, and Jacobs, no one else is really separating themselves from the overall level of the competition – hopefully that puts off franchise analysts.

Fisher the other one to do well. Haven't seen a ball so dunno how he's kept the runs down, but 8 wickets and conceding only 5.6 per over is great.

Dunno how to feel about Ashok doing well in T20 - good I guess? There's probably about zero chance of he or any other NZ legspinner becoming a good test cricket bowler, so a tricky T20 (and maybe ODI) legspinner is the best we can hope for?

Jacobs hit all of his first 7 balls for boundaries. Five 4s and 2 sixes.

Usually he seems to be a bit of a slowish starter. Which is probably wise if your modus operandi is to clear the fielders via orthodox shots in the areas they want you to hit. As opposed to hitting to unorthodox open areas.

Not one of those 7 balls, but the backfoot shot over extra cover clearing the boundary by another approx 15m was impressive.

Katene Clarke and his last 10 innings, four innings for NZ and six for NZ A

138 runs @ 13.8

Not good

And semi related to this. I assume Robinson must have gotten injured mid tournament. Not been seen for a few consecutive games.

Adelaide Strikers Academy too powerful for NZ A.
By my count, 9 of the NZ A side that played in the semi final have played for the Black Caps.

Some ***y Fisher highlights in the lost semi final. Had a bit of a chance when Adelaide A were 4/40.

Apart from Jacobs, our batters did a good job of all averaging 23 this tournament. (except a couple already mentioned who were worse than that)

Fisher has been historically quite statistically bad at domestic T20 level.
Whether that was sample size, or real, I'm not sure. Although I don't recall him impressing in televised super smash.
Where as he has an excellent List A record.

So, if an outcome of this tournament is Fisher becoming good (or proving to be good) at T20 .. then that is something I suppose.

Huge gulf when Fergusson and Milne are gone. A shame Hazeldine isn't a few years younger. Don't see any of that type of bowler on the horizon. Sears and Fisher will be it.

Personally I'd try to mask it with more and more spin. 4 overs of wrist spin, 12 overs of finger spin darts, and 4 overs of seam.
My god T20 is a ghastly format.

Fisher getting big swing is a new thing. And his good econ rate this tournament has to suggest he's dropping short and wide a lot less, which was previously his error ball.

I know it's a fool's game getting excited about an NZ quick bowler staying fit, but Fisher has clearly done a tonne of strengthening work over the last few years. He used to look like a twig that would, and did, snap in two every time he bowled a few overs or bumped into something. Now I wonder if I see a bit of Trent Boult, still being slim with a whippy action, but high core strength and fitness too. Fingers crossed.
