So Zak - when it doesn't swing is a club-bowler - Foulkes is higher in the Fast bowlers pecking order than Ben Sears? Gimme a **** break.
They'll be thinking about how Foulkes cleaned up all those hard handed bazballers in last year's ODI series, and banking on the Duke and shitty early summer weather to keep him in the contest.

Matthew Fisher has been selected by England. Could have been Matthew Fisher vs Matthew Fisher if our selectors had spotted the opportunity.

‘New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has initiated a formal investigation into the leaking of confidential information to the media.
NZC has hired an external, expert forensic technology investigator to identify the source of leaks.
The leaks involved internal discussions regarding a new, delayed T20 domestic competition and, notably, a 2026 staff survey detailing discontent with the board.
The investigation, which has been described by some staff as a "witch hunt," is targeting breaches of confidentiality that have, according to reports in the NZ Herald, caused significant frustration for the NZC board and its chair, Diana Puketapu-Lyndon.
The investigation follows a period of major internal turmoil at NZC, including the departure of former CEO Scott Weenink in March 2026.’

There was a bit of a nothing article in The Herald about Kane Williamson: ‘England tour could be veteran’s last’. Given that he has said previously that he’s taking it on a ‘series by series’ basis, it’s not much of a scoop to speculate that this could be his last tour.
Probably the key info in the article is this snippet:
‘The Herald understands that even if Williamson had committed to the tour of England, facing Australia over summer is far from certain at this point. Dialogue between Williamson, Black Caps coach Rob Walter and chief selector Gavin Larsen is understood to be positive, though.’

You’ve got a bloke who apparently isn’t motivated by individual stats or the lure of certain marquee tours. So that leaves being motivated by a love of playing the game & of helping the team do well. Therefore if he feels he is still contributing at the right level & that NZC are supportive of his need to spend lots of time with his young family, then I can see him seeing it right through to a potential WTC Final in 2027 - for the good of the team. I also think the deeper he goes into this WTC cycle, and as long as we are still in with a shot of making the final, then the less likely it is that he will pull the pin before seeing it through.

I played golf with an ND guy a couple of months ago who was certain he'd heard that England was a good chance of being Kane's final tour. But he wasn't a top tier, walks the dogs with Kane ND guy, so who knows.

I dunno why the Herald wrote that article, though - it's far from certain to play Australia, but the talk is positive. Cool. So no news. He might, he might not. Hold the front page....

That's one of those ones where NZC should focus on being a better organisation where people don't feel they want to leak confidential information.

Money that could be directed at grassroots goes to an IT company to decide who felt disenfranchised enough to share how unsatisfying it is to work for their employer.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing

I don't deny he's put up the numbers in domestics but I do find it amusing they're framing it like he was discarded and had to scrap to get back when the setup clearly loves him, and his reselection feels like the meme of NZC posting "one like and we'll bring back Henry Nicholls" and the first like is from NZC themselves.

I mean, fair play to him, he's done what he's been asked with numbers but
“Nothing specifically,” Nicholls said when asked if he made changes to his technique.

Devon Conway looking to go back on full-time contract with NZC. I had thought he was a bit older than he actually is. He’ll be 35 in July.

‘Black Caps batter Devon Conway is ready to end his New Zealand Cricket central contract exile, and recommit full-time to the national organisation.
The 34-year-old opted out of a national contract in 2024, and has been casually contracted to New Zealand Cricket (NZC) ever since.’

‘For Conway, though, a full year of test cricket (14 tests in 12 months) comes first and foremost.
“I’m not a big planner,” he explained. “For me, we’re going into a test block, that’s exciting.”
“When you get to the end of that, what’s next? An ODI World Cup in ‘27 in South Africa, that could be pretty cool.”
“I don’t really think about that, because it’s about the test stuff now. It’s about prepping and knowing the greater goal for the World Test Championship.”
“I forget about my age, I try to make sure I’m fit - [turning] 35, time’s no longer on my side. But as long as I’m fit, giving to the team, doing my job and trying to improve, it’s as simple as that.”’

Setting aside any cynicism around Conways motives, the idea of him focussing on test cricket and trying to get back to his best in that format must be a positive for the team. Currently we are in second spot on the WTC points table. If the current squad are committed to giving it a red-hot go of making the final & are looking to leave no stone unturned in pursuit of that goal then that will stand us in good stead for the mighty challenges ahead.
