Impressive bowling figures for Dale Phillips in that game. That's really unfortunate that Chu finally gets picked, named as captain and presumably got injured.

Bit interesting to pick Lister for Bangladesh given he was dropped from NZ A in Sri Lankan conditions after hardly bowling in the first game. I guess the (relative) sanity of the A programme does not translate to national squad selection.

Heaphy 162. He faced 370 balls. Obviously has an unflappable zen-like temperament where he can just bat time. He retired hurt when he was on 115 but returned later in the innings and saw NZ A through to a first innings lead.

I don't think the selectorial woes around Nicholls should distract from the fact that as his peak, he got 100% out of his ability and played some truly world class innings' against major opposition. As much integrity as he has, he's not turning down a spot and he probably think he's got something to offer

Yeah he played a massive hand in helping NZ to our first series win in Asia since forever. If he'd been born 20 years earlier he would probably be seen as on par with the likes of Astle and McMillan.

‘Next NZ Cricket CEO: Ex-Black Caps Geoff Allott, Lee Germon in two-horse race’

Headline from The NZ Herald; the article is behind the paywall.

The Post reports that Raelene Castle is a third contender for the role.

I'd have him above McMillan, but below Astle. Astle turned up time and again. Talented though he was, McMillan was ultimately just a hack. I'd have Nicholls over him every day of the week.

Looks like The Herald had their facts wrong…

‘Next NZ Cricket CEO: Ex-Black Cap Geoff Allott front runner for job as former teammate Lee Germon not involved in process.’

‘Former Black Caps fast bowler Geoff Allott appears to be the front-runner to become New Zealand Cricket’s new chief executive, with former teammate Lee Germon not in the running.’
