Decided to list all the NZ seamers with a pulse and over 40 FC wickets to see who should be next in line. First Class stats below, sorted in descending order by total wickets taken. Bolded are already in the squad, grey text are injured.

Dudding does look fairly good on this list having that low average, a little ahead of Lister, though Davey actually has the lowest average listed amongst fit players.

Sheat is the highest uninjured FC wicket taker - very medium pace but more importantly his performances have tailed off the last couple of years and hasn't made the Canterbury side at times. Toole does have a reasonable case to being next in line - left arm military medium conceding a low RPO. Though I'm surprised Lister's RPO is actually lower - I see him as pretty inaccurate, but his numbers are good.

Edit: Thought I'd save time by using Copilot to do this, but it pumped out some numbers that were junk. All fixed now. Also added extra bowlers now.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Has Travis Muller qualified? 32 with 200 FC wickets (NZ and SA) at 29. Also distinct lack of Bacon on this plate. ChatGPT also doesn't rate Snedden, obvs.

Bet Ian McPeake is ruing his retirement. And who was the bloke who decided he'd rather ply his trade in England rather than be a domestic journeyman?

If he wasn't made of glass, Milne would probably get a gig atm.

Haha i forgot Toole too. I did give it a list of players to include. Also don't think Muller is playing this season, not sure why.

I saw Travis Muller on a club cricket scorecard somewhere that was not in Otago. Might have been Christchurch.

How about a fun little bet on the "just a domestic journeyman" jibe.

Who do you think will end up with the most test wickets upon retirement? Jamieson or Duffy.

Duffy currently on 12, Jamieson on 80 wickets.

Duffy about 7 months older.

Duffy age: 31y 132d
Jamieson age: 30y 347d
