The Heaviest Ball bowlers of all time

I love watching bowlers who bowl the Heavy Ball. Some favourites include Cummins, McGrath, Ambrose, William O'Rourke and Morne Morkel. Who else do you like to watch bowling the Heavy Ball?

Harmison and later Flintoff at their bowling peaks were great to watch. Heavy ball plus 90mph is just scary.

The standout though for me was peak Ian Bishop.

Rory Kleinveldt.
I remember when he came into the SA team after Philander couldn't be bothered playing and it was mentioned how he's a 'hit the deck' bowler. Turned out he bowled 132 km/h.

Since then I've general associated 'heavy ball' and 'hit the deck' with burly bowlers who aren't actually that fast. When someone's properly quick, people say so.

He was really good to watch, although he sprayed it everywhere. Josh tongue is a bit like that, but the GOAT heavy ball spraying it everywhere bowler has to be Devon Malcolm.
He hit Ramnaresh Sarwan on his head in a match and since then I got scared of him.

The main bowler I recall bowling a a heavy ball was Kallis.

Don't recall McGrath as much.

McGrath was the quintessential heavy ball bowler. Barely bowled over 80mph, but everyone who faced him said he felt much faster due to the heavy ball he bowled.

When the speed gun became a regular thing, batsmen were actually shocked at what he was clocking.

Heavy ball is when it looks faster than it is and with a bit of a kick. McGrath is the opposite.

McGrath always looks fast medium.

And yes balls can look faster or more bouncier than they seem based on the bowlers action.
No it really can't. Batters might incorrectly say it looks faster, but what they really mean is it feels faster.

Two bowlers who were regarded by their peers as appearing to accelerate off the pitch were "Garth" McKenzie and John Snow. If I recall, McKenzie broke Boycott's finger with one that lifted quickly off a length.
