Bowling heavy since I already have Bradman and there is sufficient lower order batting.

You think Gavaskar is a better test cricketer than Tendulkar? Or Marshall is better than Sobers?

I think Viv and Sachin are near consensus picks for the middle order. However, I used to think Viv was perfect for no.4 but I think Sachin at this spot makes more sense. He was a no.4 his entire career.

Viv and smith tied for votes in the World XIs. Only Smith won in a tie breaker, and close at that

None of these guys are the best Cricketer from their country

The premise by Coronis was the best Cricketers from each country, not just any random player from the eleven give test playing countries.

Garry Sobers
Wally Hammond
Don Bradman*
Sachin Tendulkar
Jacques Kallis
Andy Flower+
Shakib Al Hasan
Imran Khan
Richard Hadlee
Rashid Khan
Muttiah Muralitharan

12th man probably… Lorcan Tucker?

Batting order could probably be shuffled somewhat. Was unsure who would be best suited to open in this hypothetical.

A bit spin heavy, thanks to Rashid and Shakib. I think you’d have Murali tying up an end and Hadlee and Imran sharing the other for large portions of innings.

I was selecting based on instinctual you can select any player from that country to join a squad first with other choices of great players later to complete it. I chose Barry because I remembered that beyond his test average of 72 he averaged 79 in World Series Cricket Supertests but I also strongly considered Kallis, Graeme Pollock and Aubrey Faulkner. I'll admit to not looking until you mentioned him but I didn't realise that Procter still averaged 16 with the ball in World Series Cricket Supertests which puts him strongly into consideration as well although I think from what I remember finding out that World Series Cricket was played more in bowler friendly conditions that batter friendly ones

I would also prefer King in a test team than Rashid Khan but unfortunately King never played a test and the USA never played test cricket

Selecting a balanced team to play yours, with players you haven't used, one from each nation:

Len Hutton (Eng)
Tamim Iqbal (Bang)
Kane Williamson (NZ)
Viv Richards (WI) *
Kumar Sangakkara (SL)
Lorcan Tucker (Ire) +
Kapil Dev (Ind)
Heath Streak (Zim)
Wasim Akram (Pak)
Shane Warne (Aus)
Dale Steyn (SA)

If I was doing one player per nation as a fairly balanced team, I'd go:

Hutton
Gavaskar
Bradman
Kallis
Flower +
Sobers
Shakib
Hadlee
Wasim
Rashid
Murali

I think Tendulkar is slightly superior to Gavaskar, but you need an opener. You have to select all of Murali, Rashid and Shakib thru lack of other options, so the spin attack has three members, while the pace attack is just Hadlee and either Wasim/Imran. Kallis and Sobers are decent pace options but it'd be nice to be able to squeeze one more proper quick in.
