Hanno's exact origins are something I've wondered quite a bit, suspect you are right. Know for sure he went to Prince Alfred over here in Adelaide for a while and played a decent amount of junior cricket for Sturt and the state U17 and U19 teams

I seemed to read something somewhere he was born in Bloemfontein but googling now couldn't bring anything about that and it suggested he was born in Oz.

Yeah I think his best is very good indeed, can get it up around 140 when he's on, can hit it a fair way down the order, good fielder too. Has days where he's really not that great though, few problems with overstepping too at times

The new naming. The First-Class series. Just sad it can't get sponsorship anymore. Castle Cup, SuperSport Series, Sunfoil Series followed the Currie Cup naming in the Professional era but that must be about 5/6/7 years without sponsorship. The white-ball comps have sponsorship though because of live TV Airing.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Clyde Fortuin has exited domestic cricket in South Africa to permanently relocate to the United Kingdom.

Fortuin was listed among Boland’s contracted players for the 2026-27 domestic season in SA. He later declined the contract.

“I have not formally retired from cricket, but I have resigned from my job at Boland. I have done this because I want to stay in England with my wife,” Fortuin told Club Cricket SA.

“It’s looking likely I will pursue a professional career in the United Kingdom, but I’m not 100 percent sure yet. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but most likely that will be the road I go down.

“We will see what the next few months look like. That will be my preferred route, but we’ll see what happens.”

Fortuin played 90 first-class matches from 2014 to 2026. This included two Tests for South Africa in 2024.

He was capped in first-class cricket by the Warriors, Knights, Western Province, Boland and Northern Cape.

His 12-year first-class career in SA included three centuries and 21 half-tons from 144 innings.

Fortuin also played for the Pretoria Capitals in the SA20.

“I am grateful to all the teams I played for over the years in South Africa,” he added.
