The ladies emerging squad confirmed Nini is moving to ep from nw, which is a huge relief. Next seam cab off the rank along with Vezi once Klaas/Khaka move on and Ismail reretires. Also confirmed Wyngaardt moving to titans from wp.

Seems like Raeeq Daniels, George van Heerden & Muhammed Bulbulia who were in the academy intake weren't selected for these squads. Unlike Luus & Boast they aren't SA A level yet. Aihevba also moved to Universities squad.

“Professional sport is cut-throat and we have to sign people who can help us to win. Our information was that four franchises wanted to sign him,” Titans chief executive officer Jacques Faul told kenborland.com.

“He’s 28 years old, so he probably has seven years left as a top cricketer, and he has no track record of this sort of behaviour before.

“I think he just got the date of his flight wrong and to not allow him to play here would be a severe punishment. Everyone’s entitled to one mistake. He has apologised and he has been sanctioned by the Lions.

“He is still a very capable player and it would be wrong to scapegoat a quality cricketer like him. We had to sign him before the CSA disciplinary because the contracting window was closing. But hopefully emotions have died down a bit and he’s not painted into a corner.

“He thought no-one else would want him, but I hope he can redeem himself, I think he will. To be remembered for that one incident would be the saddest thing. And he is the right profile cricketer for us – at this stage he doesn’t play for South Africa A or the Proteas.”

I don't know personally but Faul is saying no and that there was competition from 3 other teams so was still demand.

Supposedly Lions players wanted him to stay but the board said no.

Been released by Sunrisers Eastern Cape. I guess, Domingo couldn't work with him moving forward.

Always find it interesting seeing The South Africans in the Emerging Nations and what they up to.

So on the go is the European T20 Qualifiers.

Jersey and Denmark qualified from the first two to join Scotland. Regional Qualifier C with Germany/Portugal the greatest Saffer contingent.

Jersey has Ben Ward (leg-spinner) who played for Cobras/WP a couple of times and Scott van Breda who played professional rugby in SA.

Germany has Josh van Heerden who currently plays for Western Province.

Portugal is a growing contributor with the number of Portuguese we have. Cameron Shekelton (Tuskers), Christopher De Freitas (came through in North West but now playing in Ireland), Sebastian de Oliveira (St Stithians like Shekleton) and in fact they were in the same school first team with Ricardo Vasconcelos who moved to England maybe still holding out hope to play for them. We also had a Jarred Jardine-Goncalves who played SA U19s & was recently at SWD before retirement at a young age. Moises Henriques is captaining this squad with Welkom born, Craig Cachopa in.

Dean Elgar was said to have Portuguese roots but I can't think of many others in time but we certainly had a few Greeks ie Xenophon Balaskas, John Traicos & Nic Pothas. No idea if Andrea Agathangelou in more recent times was Cypriot or Greek.

Obviously we have had the greatest number of Jewish cricketers and Israel are in the qualifying. Currently there is Gavin Kaplan & Jarren Bacher contracted professionally with David Teeger, Dean Bacher and Jacob Miltz doing well at junior levels in recent times. Teeger in the current SA Universities team. Going back in time Manfred Susskind, Norman Gordon, Sid Kiel, Sid O'Linn, Ali Bacher, Denis Gamsy, 70s/80s/90s had Frederick Goldstein, Lawrence Seeff, Mandy Yachad, John Teeger, Terence Lazard, Adam Bacher. Maybe others.

Portugal also have been chasing our ladies, with de Figueiredo from Natal (who probably would have played for SA if Mlaba wasn't there) and sa u19 Gabi Sequeira who signed with ep after making her debut for Northerns lasr season...

Landsman is a spin all-rounder who played sau19 and has now been capped by Netherlands. Unlike the men, she still plays here domestically, but then several Irish and Dutch internationals play for SA ladies domestic teams, with Babette de Leede even contracted for the last 3 seasons...

I was surprised to see how far down Zambian cricket was when I looked a couple years ago considering the number of players they have had born there and been top cricketers. Definitely more than say Uganda/Tanzania.
