South African Domestic Season 2025/26

Boland squad a bit stretched.

Imagine 12th, 13th & 14th man are Blayde Capell, Aya Gqamane & Siya Mahima.

Pieter Malan as good as retiring end of the season I imagine & Shaun Von Berg mainly red-ball stuff.

At least Lehan Botha has stepped forward this season. Jhedli as their main signing okay.Screenshot_2026-03-01-09-56-31-80_1c337646f29875672b5a61192b9010f9.jpg

I was wondering why Paul James wasn't playing in the Western Province Prem after the World Cup like Lagadien & Bosman did from the SA U19 boys who finished school.

Don't forget NW did the same with his older brother Juan and then WP got him back. Paul is better & probably a style of batsman WP needs. I think it is fair to say Juan has slightly improved this season but he is bowling less and is no ways a number 3/4 bat.

Funny that, as previous Dom Hendricks has an exceptional average in div 1 List A, but he doesn't have a lot of acceleration (VD Dussen has a worse s/r, but that is mostly due to his first 10 or so years; before he re-invented himself in white ball)...

No idea if we will see Roelof van Der Merwe in 50-over stuff. Simon Harmer could play here couldn't he but obviously just doing FC & T20 in SA. Klaasen & Shamsi full-on T20 freelancers as expected.

Jorich van Schalkwyk with SA-Emerging.

Proteas
Aiden Markram 32
Corbin Bosch 32
Lungi Ngidi 30

Rassie was never a test player but we can never be too critical of him as a 50-overs player. Remember 2019 in England and that **** show of a WC. He stood tall. Had a good 2023 WC and then a good Champs Trophy. He took to white-ball cricket from the get-go for Lions. Quite a few years in semi-pro with NW. When it was hard to break into the 6 franchise teams. You knew you deserved it.

His first 5 or 6 seasons for Lions he was incredibly slow - S/R below 70 often...

I assume Boast and Peters are still injured? Why Qeshile not playing?

I guess it's balance.

I saw Peters doing drinks in the first game. It would be nice to see if he can transition from T20 into 50-overs.

Boast, whilst he may have work to do on white-ball cricket had a good 50-over season last season.

Just doesn't feel right if both are fit they aren't testing our domestic batsman out.

I think Robbie P has just left Qeshile out.

Been some knock by Josh Breed this. Claremont CC !! 64* off 54 And his teammate there for many years was the opposition captain Matthew De Villiers. Lots of back-cuts and reverse ramps. Brilliant to watch.

Kaber with an excellent 10-over spell. 2/42

Wrist-spinner watch.

We are so blessed for finger spinners. Kyle Simmonds is so so good. Just have to watch his spell at the Wanderers and here at Newlands.

2/2 for the Warriors. What a season for Eastern Cape cricket.

2 close losses for WP. Bowling attack is a concern. Breed and Daniels inexperienced but there has to come a time when they can't rely on Pato/Beuran. Simmonds quality.

What concerns me about Raeeq was that he was ahead of Nqobani in SA U19s not by much but now Nqobani has raced so far ahead of him. Brett Proctor says he was chatting to Khaya Zondo who said Nqobani left for SA20 as a talent but came back so confident and knowing his game.
