South Africa team selection

They not the greatest attacks but you still go to do it.

Just under a year ago Ackerman got one of the quickest FC double tons by a South African for SA A v Windies. Got runs v India A and now 173 off 136 vs England Lions. Fair play. Our depth is pretty good compared to other nations.

Senokwane out for 55 and now Jordan Hermann has gone to 50.

SA A need another 64 to win with 8 wickets in hand.

Division One squads looking like this.

Miller, Nortje, Klassen & Shamsi the stand-out freelancers. Roelof Vd Merwe supposedly staying at Titans but I'm going with 17. Imagine he is paying as you play.

Is it fair to assume this is a "survive the first 20 overs" kind of pitch? Although not too many have done much even with the new ball...

Jack looking a level above the other 3 seamers... Although the wicket was kind of tame (good catch though). And while I say that he gets Senokwane too...

England Lions is a more developmental side. Saying that, this is far from a true SA A team.

But there are one or two interesting ones. Jordan Herman in particular. Currently 62* in 141/5 score. Still trail be 50ish.

De Zorzi's form is a big concern, he has been very average in his last couple of knocks across formats
Can't afford any passengers in the upcoming series.

His first A level century... After 6 50s!

He is one of those players that has some decent highs but lots of lows.

Think I've come to accept that from him. He shouldn't be anywhere near our top 3 at home against Aus/England with the way he nicks off.

If Conrad continues with his selection policies I think it’s going to be Stubbs at 3 and Bedders at 5. de Zorzi seems to have been pegged as a guy who plays spin better than seam but if Stubbs fronts up at 3 I really would rather Bedingham be walking out at 5 against English and Aus pace.

I'd prefer Ackerman at 3 over Stubbs on current form.

Hermann has that left handers tendency to play hard without footwork to balls outside off stump, even in this 100...

Van Vurren becomes the 6th sa a player and 2nd seamer (after the criminally unlucky Beuran Hendricks) to take a 10 for...

Jordan Hermann is more technically sound than Marques Ackerman.

In fact I've long had doubts about Ackerman when others bigged him up to me 5 years ago. I've watched him a lot over the years and he has even struggled to score runs on television in white ball games. I just feel that is a bare minimum for a potential top international test player to deal with that sort of pressure and he hasn't even if he doesn't have to be the greatest white-ball player.
