Yeah I think it’s a case of the “now”. KG and Marco are our locks but who’s third seamer right now? You expect Wiaan to play, but will it be Ngidi?

I agree that we should push a younger bowler with more upside over guys like Baartman, but I think with the importance of these series it could be a case of Conrad going with what he knows right now in Patto. Man I wish we could get Coetzee, Burger and Nortje fit!
KG, Marco, Ngidi, Bosch seem the main 4.

Pato, I can live with as he actually has performed for years and knows how to win red-ball games. Not sure about the rest in this format.

Agreed. Honestly, he was way better than I thought on our way to the WTC final. If Wiaan plays though, it could be a toss up between Ngidi and Bosch. Alternative is they go rogue and bat Sen at 7 and play KG, Marco, Bosch and Ngidi…

We are playing some coastal games though right? We could see Kesh paired with Harmer or Sen. Damn, I didn’t realise how many combos we could have. Sen has made a case of actually being considered over Wiaan in that all rounder role with his knocks in the SC. Still think Mulder is the better batter technically, but can you ignore those Pak and India knocks?

Corbin Bosch should be playing as the third seamer ideally

Supposedly Kevin was on the golf course.

Garth Le Roux (WP), Stephen Jefferies (WP), Ray Jennings (TVL), Alan Kourie (TVL), Kevin McKenzie (TVL), Jimmy Cook (TVL)

Peter Kirsten (WP), Barry Richards (Natal), G Graeme Pollock (EP>TVL), Mike Procter (Natal), Clive Rice (TVL), Vince van der Bijl (Natal)

Add Rupert Hanley (EP>TVL), Denys Hobson (WP) & Ken McEwan (EP>WP) 💥

I guess Allan Lamb & Kepler Wessels would have added to the competition.

It seems another one is coming out of retirement, Shabnim Ismail

Jafta making full use of the dodgy photos she must have of some of the management team :confused1
She makes a lot of sense in t20s. She actually has a defined role to face a few overs at the end and she has been successful at that role. None of the other domestic keepers are better batters than her, and someone like Reddy who played for sa a recently just eats up balls.

Not sure about Ismail. She is probably the best sa woman bowler of all time, but at some point they need to start backing players like Marx, Nini and Vezi to pick up the torch.

Since when is an average of 13 and highest of 17 showing you deserve the spot...
Jafta does not deserve her spot and hasn't for a long time.

Very happy to have shabnim back we desperately needed a wicket taker.

When you're batting where she does. SR 130 is among the highest ever. I think it's #12 of batters with over 100 balls in T20is ever. Tryon, who also bats there, averages below 20, and has a similar strike rate. Batting average isn't really material batting 7/8 in T20is, and if you only facing 10 balls at the end of an innings you aren't scoring a 100...

I think they are obviously showing their hand with Meso being in the squads but she hasn’t shown much with the bat either. I’m not Jaftha fan but who is the next keeper in line after Meso? It’s a quirk of the women’s game, whereas the men’s game has keeping as so many of the players secondary skill, bowling is more common in the women’s game.

I have always felt the team is missing some zip in their attack. I thought Derksen would take over, but she seems to be concentrating on her batting. The first time I saw her bowl she looked sharp albeit a bit wild and wooly.

None of the other div 1 franchises keepers this uaed season have good batting records at franchise level other than Lizelle Lee for Titans.

Meso and Jafta are mid-20s. De Ridder, Reddy and Macheke are around 15, but many of the others are 10 or less - Filander, Pinini, the NW keeper (sorry don't have squads in front of me).

Has Tunnicliffe given up keeping? Her record with the bat for South Africa isn't the greatest either, but it's a much smaller sample size than Jafta's.

A low average is ok a poor average like 13 isn't. She has a high strikerate cause she hardly makes any runs.
Are we really going to claim in 67 t20i's she hasn't had enough opportunities to do better then a highest of 17.

playing as a bat in wp (Filander is the keeper) and in club cricket (Imaan van Schalkwyk had the gloves this year and Babette de Leede the season before). Her batting average since surrenedering the gloves has sky rocketed. Same with Taz Brits.
