South Africa team selection

The going with the fact he is 3 in 1 and hope on his day the batting comes off.

Good fielder, bowl a couple overs, hit 16 off 8 scenario and I suppose you can get by and hopefully grow.
True but when has he even in provincial level done that? Also how does jason smith get picked over stubbs than stubbs gets called up and plays all the games and smith barely, very fishy but we know why.

You know it is politics but somehow Shukri finds a way to keep morale high for the teams sake and he got Rickelton & Stubbs in with approval from the higher up eventually. But it does show what a farce things are. There are enough pressure on players and the team as it is with expectations and our past in white-ball ICC events.

The problem is he hasn’t even done this with the Dolphins. Is there a Fortuin conspiracy as well or is he just the third SLA behind Kesh and Linde? Parsons also being able to bowl SLA albeit not at that level.
I don't rate Fortuin think he is a decent provincial player only personally and agree with you on Simelane he is at this rate going to turn into another Peshi imho.

Re: Simelane. I get both yours @Bahseph point but if we looking at Black African cricketers for this format he has one of the biggest upsides stylistically so I can live with him making a squad for tours like these. Not that bilateral T20 series are to be enthused about.

Probably and I have concerns about that. We saw where he was in that test vs Zimbabwe. Yusuf, Sipamla and Swanepoel might not be going to Hollywood but it would be nice for Maphaka to play with them more in 4-Day cricket to truly judge right now but we all want Maphaka to reach his obvious wicket-taking potential in the longest format.
There is still too much pressure on young african talent to come from u19s and be stars without getting enough provincial cricket.

Yeah he has done well to unite like rassie.

Also good that the issue with England for at least getting the 50-overs in has been sorted. Although the World Cup only being Oct/Nov also a bit frustrating as I thought we would be building nice international momentum with the Sri Lanka your after those and then the WC. Now its IPL and the winter first.

Looks like they delayed the SA20 by a week and not playing T20I till later, to get the important part of the Eng series in. This makes me happy.

This was only announced by SACA last year?

Screenshot_2026-03-04-08-55-08-78_40deb401b9ffe8e1df2f1cc5ba480b12.jpg

So the Mens is currently:

WP: De Zorzi, Bedingham, Verreynne, Burger
Warriors: Breetzke, Stubbs, Muthusamy
Dolphins: Miller, Maharaj
Lions: R Hendricks, Rickelton, Vd Dussen, Bavuma, Mulder, Rabada, Maphaka
Titans: Markram, Pretorius, Brevis, M Jansen, C Bosch, Coetzee, Ngidi, Williams

Remember when the finances were hit and we could barely contract 16. We now up to 24. You imagine Rassie and Reeza's race is run moving forward.

I truly detest T20s but I hate that SA cricket have put so much effort into them now to try break the WC hoodoo when the format is by its very nature unpredictable. 2 weeks ago we had a cruising win against NZ today we get annihilated. It can happen in any format, but the nature of T20 is just silly and ridiculous.

Yeah just enjoy it for what it is. Nice entertainment every now and then. That’s how I view the games.
