South Africa team selection

Paterson from the ICC final squad? Squads since then have been either vs Zim or in Subcontinent...

Nqaba Peter should have been picked , you need a legspinner in T20 ..

Would have also picked Matthew Boast instead of Eathan Bosch ..He's the most in form seamer and he gives it a good thump with the bat
I wonder if it is a case of allowing Nqaba Peter a full 50-over season. Bjorn Fortuin not being selected for SA doesn't help matters.

I don't mind Eathan Bosch as I think the only true 7/8 is him and Linde.

For Boast, he needs to perfect T20 particularly still. I'm just chuffed him and Luus got some good red-ball cricket under their belts. It will be good for the long-term and the test team.

Test seamer stocks. I guess with Paterson going as well as unlikely Nortje ever makes a come back. Much will depend on that middle group before they go to the youngsters?

No disrespect to them as they did well for SA A but Moreki & Cele aren't international standard. Right now Baartman, E Bosch, Mokoena & Peters are white-ball. Mokoena has scope for red-ball success long-term.

1. Rabada
2. M Jansen
3. C Bosch
4. Ngidi

5. Coetzee
6. Burger
7. Yusuf
8. Sipamla
9. Swanepoel

10. Mapakha
11. Boast
12. Luus

We are well stocked in the fast bowling , there is also raw talent like Tiaan Van Vuuren , Duan Jansen , Gideon Peters ..Pity about Baartman , we discovered him too late I think he would have been a useful Test bowler

Baartman was in the test squad as early as 2021...

The going with the fact he is 3 in 1 and hope on his day the batting comes off.

Good fielder, bowl a couple overs, hit 16 off 8 scenario and I suppose you can get by and hopefully grow.
The problem is he hasn’t even done this with the Dolphins. Is there a Fortuin conspiracy as well or is he just the third SLA behind Kesh and Linde? Parsons also being able to bowl SLA albeit not at that level.

I think shuks thinking Kwena is a lot higher then that. He likely has him just behind burger & Coetzee if not equal.

Probably and I have concerns about that. We saw where he was in that test vs Zimbabwe. Yusuf, Sipamla and Swanepoel might not be going to Hollywood but it would be nice for Maphaka to play with them more in 4-Day cricket to truly judge right now but we all want Maphaka to reach his obvious wicket-taking potential in the longest format.
