Quite sure that even those knocks were either statpadding or came against poor bowling attacks. Healy did not have the potential to win matches with the bat.

Healy did two stumpings in his first 39 matches with Warne. These wicketkeeping skills are quite overrated. You just need a decent keeper.

My point is simple, if you have a decent wk batsman who has potential to average 40 and play match winning innings than you should always pick him over a better keeper who averages 26 .

Healy is the wrong example here. For most of his career he was a test quality bat.

But I agree the value of great keeping over average keeping is lower - certainly lower than five points of batting average. That’s why teams make the decisions they do.

I think you are overrating Smith. He was terrible in the Ashes and against us, while both Carey and Blundell pushed Starc and Nathan Smith for player of their respective series DUE TO keeping skills
