I mean, the alternative is that, when it's a regular poster like Himannv, people will notice from browsing the forum that he's "banned" and would be outraged as to why the reason hadn't been posted in the Ban Announcements thread, so this seems a sensible approach to eliminate questions.

We make it public if only to make it clear that it's just because they asked for a break, not because anything untowards has happened.

Maybe we should do this in the mod forum but it's an awkward issue I'd kind of like broader input on - we kind of all know Adorable Asshole has a very obvious multi here to avoid a bet, right? What do the members think of this?

On the face of it i can't see a valid reason to allow but as said I don't know the history.
