Like 2 days.
Yeah but he was clearly bowling under workload restrictions. Bowled 12 overs out of 85 on day 1 and then 17 out of 100 overs split across days 2 and 3. It's clear that they're not fully confident about his fitness for long form cricket yet. And if a guy isn't fit to bowl 20+ overs a day, I can't see how you can pick them for tests. Given how depleted the pace bowling stocks are the last thing they'll want to do is pick another player who's fitness is still under question. And given that he's already lost the best years of his career to injury, and has complained in the media about being rushed back before he was ready, I strongly suspect rhat KJ isn't looking to rush things.

Why play red ball cricket at all if he's not trying to come back for the third game? We don't play another test until May/June next year. Seems like an unnecessary risk. Just play the Super Smash if the only realistic goal is the white ball games against India in late Jan. And then play the Plunket Shield in Feb/March. Playing red ball cricket now would be rushing it if he has no intention of making himself available for that third game.

GP had to play 2 rounds of PS & serve time as a sub fielder, & he was coming in cold. At least KJ has been playing, & his white ball programme was probably part of his rehab. We'll find out during the squad announcements for PS Round 4 - he could be in if he's not playing for Canterbury.

Ray Toole.
Toole > Lister for chances of making through a 5 day test without breaking down. If selectors wanted some variety.

But I would pick Jamieson, even with 12-15 max overs per day loading, then rely on overs from Phillips + Ravindra to make up the shortfall.

just watched the highlights - on Foulkes, has he had a history of back issues? His action reminds me of myself when I bowl seam up (minimal fuss/effort, very upright, floaty, no real exertion to bowl faster/just putting the ball there). I do this purely through preservation (after having multiple issues with my back growing up), just wondering if he's potentially the same.

I'm excited to see who the 10th best seam bowler in NZ is in the next game
Usually it is unironically interesting to see how the next best reserve goes, but we're getting so deep into the reserves now that I'm not sure there's a whole lot of upside and it's just sad.

If the answer isn't Liam Dudding Michael Snedden, I don't know what the question is.
I do actually quite like Dudding, would be interesting to compare him to Foulkes in the new ball inswing role.

My mate reckons Foulkes has the most back injury prone action he's ever seen.

He would know, since he broke his own back when bowling lol and he's still way quicker than the rest of us.

Flicking through highlights of our early bowling yesterday - was worried Duffy had been bowling too short due to his different role last match, but nah he did bowl a decent length and drew a couple of edges that could have been wickets. If anything he erred in line a little more than desirable, a few too many balls that the WI openers could just leave wide of offstump.

We kinda need Duffy right now, suddenly he's the lynchpin of the attack.

If Jamieson is fit to play Plunket Shield (which he is) then he plays at the Mount, for me.

We go to a diet of T20Is from here in the New Year, right?

Good nut.

Crazy to think this is Kemar Roach, 37 years old with 291 wickets at 26s, a record that outstrips many more vaunted bowlers but doesn't get near the love he deserves (especially given the injury issues)
Yeah, he's a giant of post-90's WI bowling. I still remember watching him tearing in and scaring the **** out of Ricky Ponting back in 2009. To think that he's managed to remain such an awesome bowler despite losing 20kph of pace over the last 15 years is a marvel. One of my favourite cricketers of this era.
