*Official* U19 Cricket World Cup 2026 in Zimbabwe/Namibia

18 year old Mason Clarke doesn’t look to have advanced much from the 16 year old version.

I also though this in the domestics.

(Although his batting/hitting looks to have advanced a lot)
Clarke was outbowled by Lloyd Fellowes in his own team in that tournament.

Yeah I try not to randomly accuse individual players, because you never know. But on a grander scale you shouldn't have *that* many sixteen year olds with back issues, male pattern baldness, massive beards, ten year achievement awards for their district Under 19 side and grandkids asking for tickets to the tournament.
Yeah it's not like we are picking on individual players, there is clearly an established pattern with the Afghans and it can't all be attributed to genetics/culture/environment. I think most nations will write off bad performances against the Afghan U19s (and credit good ones) because of this.

I posted a couple of days ago about the Aussie kid, James, who does look like he's in his 20s but (as far as I am aware) there's no questions over his age: he's just strongly built and his moustache adds to the effect.

Pretty cool that you can have a debutant this far into U19 World Cups in Tanzania.

Following on from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Namibia, Uganda & Nigeria from the African continent to have played in this event.

Changes for SA
Mbatha for Bosman
Kruiskamp for Basson (who isn't quite himself since his injury but you can see has a lot going for him)

Kruiskamp eligible for the next WC as well. Vey handy left-arm seamer and lower order batsman. Rowles, Bosman and Basson the others that can tour England later this year with him in the current squad.

It's crazy to say but Rowles may just be more complete than Pretorius. They going to have years fighting who will be the kingpin batsman of SA cricket.
He bats nothing like him but he looks over his left shoulder whilst patting the bat down as he sets up to strike to make sure his right shoulder is across just like Graeme Smith used to do.

First time I came across the name was I saw him scoring runs in club cricket for Wits University team. Then I searched his name and he even went to India to be coached by Dinesh Lad (who coached Rohit Sharma) and was getting rave reviews there.

Lad had seen the videos of Rowles, and felt he didn't really need to come to India as he was batting well. The youngster was adamant and wanted to test himself in different conditions.

"He came to me through Pratik Kadam, the strength and conditioning coach at the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. One of Pratik's friends from South Africa asked him if I could coach Rowles."

"We worked at our school, where Rohit used to practise, and even Shardul Thakur. I got a few spinners to bowl to him. He was pretty good at negotiating against spin, which was impressive," he added.

The impressive thing is Lad doesn't even charge to coach

AFg are definitely the worst at this coz they basically take the mickey out of it sometimes (Rashid Khan lol) but there is a reason why Afg, BD and Pak always stand out at U19s but dont quite have the same success in senior cricket tbh.
I dont think Bd do this

Wondering who the worst team is in this comp, I suspect it is Tanzania although Japan may well run them close. These two seem quite a bit worse than the other lesser nations.

I think he’s going to be better than his brother, he’s certainly more powerful. I’m somewhat reminded of a young Jos Buttler.

England look a pretty decent unit this year. The openers could do with using a bit of common sense though. But decent seam attack plus Farhan.

Love the Sussex connection with the coaching team of Yardy and Mushy.
I didn't realise he (Rew) had that kind of power until today. If he turns out to be half the player Jos is he'll have a good career, Jos started at the same county too.

I was disappointed in Dawkins' dismissal, he had just hit a 6 their then they put a man back on the boundary and he hits it down his throat next ball, he is better than that.

Yes England look a very very good side, beating India in the warm up game was impressive to go with the Pakistan win. It is a shame Harry Moore got a back injury last year as he looked very promising.

I think Joe Moores' dismissal was perhaps even more disappointing seeing as he did exactly the same as Dawkins.

It's interesting comparing this England batting unit with say the Aussie skipper Ollie Peake. As @Spark noted in a recent BBL game, he didn't have the power to hit 6's, but he did have the nous to use the pace and ramp it over fine leg for the winning runs off the final ball. This England line up is definitely not short on power, I've now seen all the top 5 hit some big 6's in the first 2 games.

Maybe something to do with the grounds they play at? The aus guys probably need to develop that nous early on cause of the big grounds while other youngsters focus on the power game?

Having not managed a win vs the USA, it could be a very short tournament for NZ if they don't take the must-win against Bangaladesh tonight.

Unlucky with the rain, can't guarantee they would've successfully chased US's score either.

I think we still would have needed to beat one of the Bangles or India anyway. Not sure the US result makes any difference.

I was thinking this, but looked it up and my understanding is 12 out of the 16 progress?
Super 6 stage is 2 pools of 6?

On a side note. When doing this I noticed all matches at Bulawayo had been rain effected so far.
