Overall, I think the Saffers are the team to beat, Aussies are in a minor transition phase but they still have class throughout the team, India seem off their usual high standards but should come good and it feels a tournament too far for NZ's retiring stars. England are on an upward curve, they're not there yet though, I think most feel that Dean is the long term leader of the squad now with some exciting younger players coming through. The gulf to the other nations is too great, however, don't rule out shock match victories from the likes of the Windies.

Yeah, I think SA have a few things that can go for them. Tryon has been bowling better with some guidance from Maharaj, Reyneke is a proper finisher, Wolvaardt has added a bit of power to her game and Luus has been a good parter for her at the top. They have Kapp and Shabnim opening the bowling and Mlaba is excellent.

There are a few little things holding them back. Brits and Dercksen haven't been in good form, Jafta is still a liability, and Shabnim is a bit past her peak. Still, it's a strong side in my view and they've played fairly well recently. Judging by their selections in the warmup, they'll probably go with this:

01. Wolvaardt
02. Luus
03. van Niekerk
04. NDK
05. Kapp
06. Tryon
07. Reyneke
08. Jafta
09. Khaka/Sekhukhune
10. Mlaba
11. Shabnim

Being in the same group as India and Australia is a bit of a problem though.

We have up and down in the warmups. Hopefully we get it right vs aus.
Would be stronger if Dane was bowling but seems that isn't the case.

She said in a article a few months ago she has lost the confidence to land it. Said she is working on getting it back. But seems its not there yet. Would add a lot having a proper legspin option.

Sune is still used but her switch to offspin has made her less a threat. She isn't used every game.

I reckon England will take that for an opener. A strong powerplay, DWH ton, Jones 50 and NSB running well.

The problem areas fired. Over to the bowlers!

SL were a bit woeful in the field mind.

As expected catches going down. Doesn't matter whether it's franchise cricket, test cricket or world cups, nobody can catch properly. I bet if teams work as hard on it as they do on batting and bowling, it will massively increase their likelihood of winning games.

Yeah my point is vindicated by brilliant catch from Bryce. Ireland also got an opportunity in first over and the fielder was 10 yards in from the boundary. Small margins.

SA seem to have plenty of ARs in the squad yet their batting ends at no.7. Meanwhile Aus have four spinners and four pacers/medium pacers and their no.11 is Alana King.

Dercksen playing ahead of DvN is an interesting call. Anyway, looking forward to watching Kapp+Shabnim opening the bowling for SA once again.

Dercksen has been in better form while Dane & tasmin have both strugled for runs in the warmup.
