A common misconception in cricket is that it's necessary for the specialist batsmen to score runs.

Perhaps white ball all-rounder pairing of Keene + Foulkes will do the job that Elliott + Anderson then de Grandhomme + Neesham did in NZ's run to successive World Cup ODI finals ???
Well they've certainly boosted their chances on this tour, although Abbas (despite the duck) is another strong option too.

4/19 for Moreki excellent, lol Jordan Herman was used late in the piece and picked up 3/20 in 4 overs with his part time spin

I hate when local commentators try and give techinal advice about what a players weaknesses are , it's not their job to do that , don't help the tourists lol

Keene, cutting and pulling the ball like a dream. The best lower-order back-foot player they've put in a NZ shirt since 2002 Scott Styris, probably.

Sorry for the big curse, he'll fall shortly after the drinks break here.
And he kicks off with a wicket maiden to boot. Keene as mustard today.

NZ were 6 down for 98 and then once again Keene and Foulkes brought things back from a very dire position to at least give the bowlers something to try to defend. Pretty impressive stuff from Keene to score 77 at a strike rate of 132.75 given the situation.

Oh hey Kippax.

Good biffing from Keene and hope he builds on that as a batter next season. Bowling can aim to be Astle/Styris level.

Interesting tour for Foulkes so far, excelling with the bat but unable to take wickets with the ball. The first pitch had something for the seamers, not sure about this. He'll need to adapt when facing batters who can handle the big inswinger and the surprise bouncer.

Need more from senior players - Kelly, Carter, Lister. Pair of ducks for Jacobs is awful too. Ashok and Lennox quietly fairly good.

Abbas and Hay haven’t set the world on fire either. It has really just been Keene and Foulkes ensuring NZ A post some sort of a score. Pretty disappointing, as the drums were beating for some in the top order to play Zimbabwe.

The ease with which Keene got a cut and a pull away against Coetzee was pretty noteworthy.

Someone with a pretty low-ceiling vibe like Dale Phillips opening, a gormless bumpkin like Clarkson at 7, yet Keene's coming in as a No. 9, that'll probably be looked back on as a bit of a joke in the years to come.
Keene was impressive opening the batting for Auckland in Super Smash too.

Welcome back to the forum btw!
