I read he'd been approached, remains to be seen if he'd be interested.

Dave Rennie for me, quality person
I'd almost prefer Foster, Hanson to take over now, and have Joseph, Rennie, Brown come in for the next 4 year cycle.

If Joseph and Rennie come in now and we get done 3-0 in SA and then lose the quarter final next year, they'll likely be sacked too. Probably need some experience to navigate through the next 2 years.

Joe Schmidt is out then, clearly 100% Aussie now.
So weird they didnt open with the Aus-NZ game.

The most impactful pool game (besides the inter-tier 2 games for progression) is probably Ireland-Scotland. The winner very likely plays Georgia then Argentina, the loser plays their first knockout vs France.
Yeah agree, it'll now be a bit of a damp squib to open sadly. I guess the thinking is the 1st game will sell out regardless, and then Aus v NZ in the bigger stadium will sell out as well, where Aus v Chile/HKC may not have I guess.

What will be interesting is if the 'minnow' games sell well, they sold exceptionally well in 2015, 2019 and 2023, so I'm interested to see if the Aus public gets behind the event as the previous hosts have and turn out for the 'event' and not just their teams (I say teams given the significant NZ/SA/ENG/IRE/SCO populations around Aus).

All in all, I'm obviously excited for it - originally had it marked as the 'return home' point for mrs ripper and I, but with how things have panned out in blighty so far, think we stay here a little longer yet.

Have France got a bye to the knockout rounds?

France by 8
Scotland by 13
England by 42

Any interest in a 'formalised'tipping comp? Id probably go down the route of the NRL comp with tips based on Buy/Sell on the points margins.

Probably comes back for the forward pass, but my word LBB is one slippery player.

Nope, not coming back. Prendergasts volley to prevent the 50-22 perhaps ill advised now.

Hopefully we get some rather more competitive halves of rugby than that this year. Hard to see how Ireland get back into this unless France take their foot off the gas.
