*Official* Road to the 2025-26 Ashes

And he's 9 days away from being younger than the entire Aussie seam attack available for Perth. Only Hazlewood just sneaks under.
I was checking out the 2023 series the other day and noticed in the last test England fielded Anderson Broad Wood Woakes and Stokes. - though the last mentioned didn't bowl. During the match their ages were 41, 37, 33, 34 and 32. This must be about the oldest seam attack fielded. The current Australian pace bowlers are 32, 34, 35 and 36 - assuming Cummins could bowl along side Haze, Starc and Boland.

Thing is no one really notices their age when the game is going on and all were deserving of their spot. But it is amazing to see 9 English and Australian seamers all well over 30 playing around the same time and I'm sure that hasn't ever happened before.

Not just pace for Aus, the spinner takes the average up too. Throw in Smith and Khawaja and I'm wondering if the average age of this team must be one of the highest ever put out by them (especially if Konstas doesn't get the gig to bring it down) and Boland for Cummins increases it too.

That was Broad's last match, wondering if Sydney might be the end for maybe Starc/Lyon?

I hope not as I've always liked Starc and even more so as his career has gone on. I'd understand if he did but there hasn't been any talk around him retiring. I get the sense Lyon thinks he's immortal and just loves playing tests. If I was taking a punt I'd bet he wants to play on until the next Ashes at least.

I'll be very sad when Smith retires but I'm hoping he stays on until someone establishes himself in the side or Marnus re establishes himself. If anyone looks near the end of his career its Usman and for that reason he's the one we need to find a replacement for most urgently. In that regard we're looking at Patterson, Weatherald or even Renshaw. I still think the future of Australia's batting will rely on how well our recent U19 players develop. The likes of Konstas, Dixon, Weibgen, Peake and Harjas. I'd also include Kelleway.

Well you can stop as Starc came out and said he wants to play till 2027 Ashes when he quit t20s. Hazlewood also mentioned 2 big years ahead and Lyon has never hinted retiring any time soon so the bowling attack for 2027 could be exactly same unless there are forced retirements or injuries

Actually, and just for fun, Australia should produce spitting cobras instead of green mambas for this series. We have Lyon, Kuhnemann, Murphy, Rocc and even Tanveer and Zampa. Each one would get into the England squad. It'd be hilarious watching all the English cope from team officials who order bazball wickets in England complaining about doctored pitches in Oz, to the fans putting another asterix against a winning Australian ashes.
You seem quite bigoted fella. Maybe take a chill pill and shake the sand out of your ******.

Always a straight shooter. Tells it like it is. Ever since he stood up for Muslim cricketers against racist/ racist-adjacent England player Joe Root, who still has questions to answer.
