International Debutant
Jurel has to play as batsman fulltime if Pant won't give up the gloves. Guy is technically capable of everything you want in a modern batsman.

I am not sure he can play better than today.
97 runs off 29 balls with 5 fours and 12 sixes.
He is only going to get bigger and stronger. He will set a ridiculous record at some point. This is just the start.

I think he can get it done in 25 balls eventually, once he is older and in his prime.

Whatever it takes!!!
TBF, BCCI took over the pitches from 2024. And its been noticeable how little spinners have been in the game since. Every team that has won has been a team that would struggle on slow low tracks, except maybe KKR in 2024 coz of the 2 mystery spinners but even there Varun was not in good form. The teams that have been winning have won on the back of good fast bowling attacks and aggressive and long batting line-ups. I dont think BCCI should take over the complete pitch prep and should just instead have a committee that can ensure teams dont prepare overly advantageous tracks for their own teams. Right now, we have many players who are awesome in hard true pitches and small boundaries with naturally lower bounce. I dont know if even half of them will be at least 70% as good in SENA and the next WC is in Aus.

It's worth noting that Sooryavanshi was pretty ordinary in the U19's World Cup on pitches with a little bit of life in until he got a nice flat one in the Final. It'll be interesting to see how he develops because he's not going to be gifted pitches like these by foreign opposition.

The guy's not even a legal adult yet, it's pointless to be nitpicking potential holes in his game right now because regardless of the pitches, the fact that he's outperforming long established players to this extent is remarkable.

Flat pitches or not, leading the run scoring in the competition with a strike rate of over 240 is absolutely ridiculous. Previously the most runs scored in an IPL Season at a strike rate over 240 - 70 from Romario Shepherd last year and 63 from Pat Cummins in 2022. The kid's on a different level. Thought he looked special in that U19 final, but wasn't expecting this. What a player

Oh yeah, not doubting that. Someone mentioned that he's carrying a bit of weight, but his body is just so loose and seems to allow ridiculous bat speed, you wonder if he'd actually still have that if he toned up a bit.

My point was more that when he did come across pitches with some life in, he wasn't the same. But he is absolutely box office and was the reason I switched on yesterday.

That’s been pretty noticeable honestly. The game has shifted much more towards pace, batting depth and flat surfaces over the last couple of seasons. While nobody wants extreme home advantage tracks, completely removing variety probably isn’t ideal either.

The bigger concern is exactly what you mentioned how many of these batters will look the same once they’re on quicker, bouncier pitches in Australia or other SENA conditions. IPL still produces quality players, but adapting overseas remains the real test.
