Obviously internet can be misleading, but the only players on similar wages to him at Pool are Salah and VVD so once City came knocking it was game over. I'd be more annoyed about it not getting wrapped up last summer than this month.

The Manchester derby was weird, Dalot should have been sent off but City don't get to sulk about that because ultimately its Diego ****ing Dalot :p

ETH and Amorim tbf have also beaten City but those were smash and grab jobs, this was oddly enough much more comfortable.
Turns out the internet is in meltdown about it. I didn't read the room very well because a lot of the noise in the LFC fan base about this is pretty diabolical, as Govinda demonstrates.

Anyway, 1-1 v Burnley is a result. First time that we haven't beaten any of the promoted sides at Anfield in a league campaign since 1980.

We're just sleep walking under this manager and sadly this ownership won't rip the band-aid off until top 4 is jeopardised.

The fickleness of the plastic fan is a sight to behold!!

I'm sure you said last year that Slot was a genius and was taking Klopp's squad to new places.......well he's certainly doing that now!!

I wonder whether Frank will replace Glasner at Palace in the summer. Feels like a good fit to me.

I had a quick look this morning and the only manager I've ever called a genius on here is Pep.

Lying and rage baiting all in one.. you have sunk to new lows my friend!!

You actually searched on 'genius'?

All last season I was pointing out that Arsenal were screwed by injuries, City were in transition and Slot was just taking advantage of a squad created for him by Klopp. But you were having none of it, telling us that he had modified Klopp's system and taking the team to new levels.

So what's changed I wonder?

Yeah of course, that's not a word I use lightly. Rage bait all you want but don't blatantly lie.

He did modify the system and he won the league by doing it, I don't see the issue with giving him credit for that.

Nah, he won the League because he had a squad which already knew what to do, two players having an all time great season and little to no competition. I reckon Amorim would've won the League too.

He's now had £400m to spend and he can't even beat a promoted side at home. In fact, you could argue his efforts this season are significantly worse than Amorim's.

If you don't want to give him credit that's your prerogative. Just remember two things:
1) Klopp didn't win the league with the exact same squad of players
2) The same 'transition' could be applied to Liverpool this season, and 'injuries' could be applied to City. Little to no competition is nonsense.

I'd be happy to support the argument that he's failed miserably, I've wanted him gone for months. Ironic that when I first started criticising and questioning him a few on here thought I was "talking shite" (go to p.54).

1. Because he didn't get to play against a weakened City and Arsenal.
2. Arteta has big questions to answer. It should be a stroll this season (it may well end up being so) but he's making somewhat heavy weather of it at the mo. His big game strategies (although he seems better in the Champs League) are disappointing.

You turned on him way earlier than normal fans would, hence my use of the word 'fickle' which sums up most Internet fans.

I said after the Spurs result in Jan last season that something changed stylistically in how we played (see post here - https://www.cricketweb.net/forum/th...all-season-2024-25.92622/page-48#post-5387744.). It has all been downhill ever since.

I wouldn't say fickle, I have just watched a lot of football and I like to think I understand my club.

Brilliant win yesterday against a top Villa side despite having so many of our first-teamers out. Pickford proved once again he's one of the top keepers in the league, that save from Morgan Rogers was unreal, what a keeper. Most away wins in the PL in the last 12 months (tied with Arsenal), just a shame we've been so meh at home. Moyes continuing to work miracles. Just go out and buy a proper RB now please.

I reckon the Liverpool ownership has finally taken the plunge in beginning to seriously re-engineer the squad from the Heavy metal football Jurgen Klopp, to whatever Slot views as an elite squad, and there is necessarily going to be a season or two or lump taking before Liverpool peak again.

That's pretty consistent with what we're seeing. I think the issue is that if this current form keeps up there is a serious chance of no UCL next season. That would be a huge blow given the financial situation.

Secondary to that, if they were re-building this side for Slot - you'd think they would be making investments this window for him. If for nothing else then to ensure he has the depth to get top 5.

It's all very weird, I personally think he's a dead man walking. Next 2 results will be massive.

Liverpool will finish top 5 easily enough , but that's more due to Chelsea/United/Spurs and Newcastle being useless tbh.

It would be harsh to fire a manager who won the league in his first attempt, but ultimately the question for Liverpool is "can he challenge City/Arsenal next year?" ,,,,I dunno I see where both Molehill and SP are coming from.

Anyway its not impossible that City/Liverpool/Tottenham and Man Utd could be all looking for new managers this summer!

I think Slot’s a decent manager but if they can get Alonso they shouldn’t need to think twice.
