**Official** English Football Season 2025/26

Eh, just drop it. I only watch the prem so I don't really care either.
That’s fine, just don’t try and act like a know it all.

There’s nothing wrong with only watching the Prem. I personally only watch shite League 2 games whilst questioning my life choices. Each to their own and all that.

My father took me (aged 6) to my first league game in the old Division 4 (League 2 obvs). I ought to have questioned his parenting really, but that 3-1 win over Halifax was certainly not shite to that little kid.

At one point in the 80's he promised my mother a night at The Ritz if we ever got promoted to the top division again. After 2 seasons of finishing 4th (missing out on goal difference on one) he killed off the offer. We got promoted the following season!!

Have loved the rollercoaster though, the good times can be appreciated so much more when you've suffered years of pain. And that is English Football!!

Never did. It was just interesting you chose to take issue with my comment rather than the poster that was initially wrong.

I knew what he meant. He meant before it had started for the clubs he was talking about.
The clubs I was talking about*. Anyway doesn't matter.

We've drawn Brighton next. Last realistic chance of silverware so hopefully this managerial situation is sorted before that fixture.

Spurs signing Gallagher is an interesting piece of business. Not the profile I think they need but he's a very handy player. He was one of Cholo's most trusted players so would have to imagine there's a reason he's coming back to the prem so suddenly.

Only two thoughts I can come up with are 1) he wants to get in front of Tuchel and try stake a claim for a WC squad spot, 2) personal reasons that mean he needs/wants to live in London again. Maybe a bit of both. Either way its a coup for them to get him ahead of Villa.

I thought most of the times I've seen athletico that he has been on the bench?
He's been less of a mainstay for Atleti this season compared to last. Was certainly not fancied to start the season but in recent weeks had been playing more.

The final nail in the coffin was being hooked at HT in the Supercopa last week. Cholo is one of those managers that once he's made up his mind on a player it's near impossible to get back in his good books.

I find it crazy Spurs are not trying to sign a progressive passing option, they rely almost entirely on Romero and Porro for playmaking. Neither of which are much chop.

Reading reports that Newcastle hierarchy is considering an end of season review of Howe's tenure. Quality manager but felt for a little while that project is stale and he will be the one that pays for it. Isak's departure and Sesko's very public rejection weren't a good look in the summer and this season has been disappointing so far.

Alonso has left RM
Disgusting evil club btw. I respect him for agreeing to walk after their board backed the players in the guard of honour saga. They've treated him shockingly but that's nothing new.

Hopefully he sits back and enjoys a few months on the beach before returning home to Anfield in the summer.

I never thought of romero as a playmaker at all but if that's who they rely on then they really do have problems!

progressive passing doesn't seem to be a priority under frank so far.i agree that they seem to be relying on Romero to progress it but i wouldn't say they ask the same of Porro.

They do, he's just not very good at it.

He's ranked 24th (Spurs highest) for progressive passes in the league - they have no one else in the top 50.
His pass completion rate is 69%, or a rank of 236th in the league.

So basically they rely on him to create/find their attackers and he inevitably gives the ball back to the opposition. It's rather hilarious to watch. Must be infuriating for Spurs fans.

The other day it was reported that Spurs had only made 9 or 11 progressive passes all season!

BARNES OUT
Sam Coffey is a massive signin for the City women's side. Other than Yui we really don't have anyone who can play box to box and still break up play defending in transition. I hope she settles in well because if she does that side is so formidable and will be tough to chase down in the league.

Haha I didn't know that. An ever better one I heard is that they have only attempted 1 through ball the entire season.

Edit: correction - I got that wrong. They have attempted 11 through balls*
