What has happened to the "pathways " program in Australia cricket ?

It’s one of the reasons there aren’t as many good players coming through

Do Australia normally play August tests? I gather this ones played at Darwin because it's closest to the equator / the warmest place possible but do they often play a 'Winter' test? Way to shoehorn it into the schedule I guess.

No they do not.

As Burgey's mentioned, it's probably a cause.

Junior pathways cricket is entirely white ball, as is ordinary junior club cricket in many places (a change from when I played in the early 10s). Not great for learning to bat properly. The pathways programs mean juniors are playing less grade cricket, which means they're not playing with and against more experienced players as much. Grade cricket itself doesn't always get the quality of pros and ex-pros it used to.

Australia selected Lyon and Bangladesh selected 2 spinners in Taijul and Mehidy, is spin expected to become a threat later in this test?

If so, important for Bangladesh to bat as long as possible (duh!) but especially considering Taskin looked cooked bowling trundlers at 125k in his second and third spells.

If they were to some how win this test. They have a backdoor chance to make it to the WTC final (Zimbabwe and Ireland fixtures don't count)

• 2nd Test vs Australia
• 2 Test series vs Windies at Home which they would be favored,. especially if they curate rank turners
• 2 Test series at South Africa, they would have to improve greatly considering how fragile they performed in Zimbabwe but you never know with a fit Nahid Rana

Miraz has been picked as a batsman/batting all-rounder, and Taijul as a specialist spinner. I don't mind it at all. Taijul is in the form of his life and could be quite useful.

I could only watch the first session and it looked like pitch is holding a bit. If it becomes more slow as the days progress, taijul or mehedi could come handy later

People are talking of him looking injured. Is he looking any worse than his usual half-crippled normal?

Hes been impactful though. Hes not ripping through orders like rana or hasan mahmud but quietly picking up wickets here and there. In last test series against pakistan, I thought he bowled well in heat. I don't know whats the deal with him in this test as I missed the later sessions. He is to me a limited over match bowler more than a test bowler.

Yes. He's been good even when has looked broken compared to his youthful self.

Had a lower workload in many of those tests I saw though, tbh, due to the spin friendly conditions. But was always quality when he bowled.

I'm just wondering if this is anything different to his new normal.

I watched a bit yesterday, but missed this part (Taskin looking injured).

Forget who said Green doesn't look like he enjoys the challenge of stopping a collapse and given his efforts in the WI then maybe 3 is better suited for him. So you could have Renshaw, Sween, Green Smith Travis Webster as the top six. Not fantastic but it means we've axed Weatherald and Marnus and moved Travis back to 5. Travis as opener is white ball makes sense and it was a great ambush tactic to have him open in the Ashes but I think its time for him to go back down the order. I don't mind Connolly as an alternative but he has a string of low scores behind him when playing for Australia. His best efforts (such as they have been) are at the top of the order.

Works out well for me to watch every ball here, though I never expected that I would. I can't imagine Australia actually lose the Test at home to Bangladesh, but it'll be a fun watch!
