*Official* Bangladesh Test tour of Australia 2026

Qlder

International Captain
With the Aussie Test squad to be named this week I think it's time for the Bangladesh Tour of Australia thread

1st Test:
Darwin, August 13-17 (10:30 start)
2nd Test: Mackay, August 22-26 (10:00 start)

Australia's recent tour of Bangladesh gave a tied white ball series with Bangladesh winning the ODI 2-1 while Australia won the T20I 3-0. But now its time for real cricket 😀

So any guesses on what the pitches will be like since Mackay has never had a Test and Darwin only had 2 Tests way back in 2003 and 2004

Australia haven't picked a spinner in their last 2 Tests so wondering if Lyon gets his job back?

Aus will pick the most boring predictable side

Weatherald
Head
Marnus
Smith
Green
Carey
Webster
whichever bowlers are fit

I agree selectors have likely locked that side in. However below is probably more how it should be?

1. Head
2.
3.
4. Smith
5.
6. Carey
7. Webster
8. Cummins
9. Starc
10. Lyon
11. Hazlewood
12. Boland

Bats to fill the 3 spots from Weatherald, Renshaw, Patterson, McSweeney, Green, Inglis

Really hope Rana becomes fit before the series. They are hiding the true nature of his injury atm or not sure entirely before providing public information. Another concern is Liton. He is one batsman that I'm looking forward to watching in Australia. If everyone is fit then

1. Tanzid Tamim
2. Joy
3. Mominul
4. Shanto
5. Mushfiq
6. Liton
7. Miraz
8. Shoriful
9. Taskin
10. Hasan Mahmud
11. Nahid Rana

I would pick Cooper Connolly instead of one of Green/Webster and probably Renshaw for Weatherald

Connolly should be in the mix

Green, Marnus and Weatherald are lucky no one is knocking the door down to replace them, but should probably all be out regardless. Much better off giving someone else a go, eg Patterson, Renshaw, McSweeney (again)

I agree we are comfortably better than the Bangers, but I don't htink they'll risk it by only picking eight players.

Australia Test squad (for both Tests)

Pat Cummins (capt), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Steven Smith, Mitchell Starc, Jake Weatherald, Beau Webster

Neser, Doggett and Murphy on standby apparently

Honestly don't mind the squad tbqh, Inglis the only selection I could really complain about and he'll almost certainly be mixing gatorade anyway.

Definitlely some people who need runs though, Weatherald didn't completely convince me in the Ashes, his problems with balls speared in full at his pads concern me, with Renshaw still there or there abouts there is pressure on. Green too needs a score, although his problems definitely more between the ears than anything else imo

Bangladesh bowling needs to be really good for this series, for our sakes. Worst thing would be if Marnus, Green etc feast and we are stuck with them in the side for the next series as a result
