Yeah, I felt that was a key moment. After they'd been Bazballed 4 times in a row across 2 series, they thought 'fcuk it' and rolled out the same pitch again they'd used in the previous Test and picked two wily old spinners. It may have earnt them short term success, not sure what the long term future looks like with this strategy though....
Right now their test side has a sub to mid 130kph Shaheen, 120k Abbas and 130kph Hassan and Shahzad.

They should have given these ODI games to that Ali Raza kid who is most promising upcoming Pacer they got but guess Aqib Javed wants these slow bunsen burners to get those cheap wins and keep his job in place.
Really sucks if you are a PCT fan as you know it's a non sense strategy as even the 50 over WC is going to be played on completely different conditions.

Rauf is their middle overs enforcer. He ain't express anymore but still can bowl high 140's on a good day.
Hesson meanwhile is justifying preparing these tracks as he expects ball to grip in Zimbabwe. Someone remind the guy that Pak may only play a odd game or two in Zimbabwe and Harare doesn't spins always like the tracks he is making at home

I don't think Hesson is completely wrong with his justification. Pitches in South Africa have also played on slower side at times. Paarl is probably the best example where Paarl Royals bowled 20 overs overs of spin in a T20. It's notoriously difficult to hit spinners there. Durban and Port Elizabeth are also on slower sides in recent years. Only the highveld ones are pacy in nature i.e Centurion and Jo'burg. In general the pace of pitches have come down since 90's I feel. India won an ODI series 5-1 in 2018 with Kuldeep and Chahal as main wicket takers, though early season start for world cup might change things. Remember pitches for T20 world cup in Australia in 2022 had a lot of juice for quicks because of tournament happening in October. All in all, there are lot of unknowns and there is no way to fully predict how pitches would play.

What does Webster have to do to get an ODI gig?

In the one day cup he played 6 games for 310 runs @ 51.66 (SR 95.7) with 1 hundred and 2 50's and took 5 wkts @ 31.40 (Econ 5.67)

He's Test proven and those are much better numbers than Peake, Scott and Connolly who made the squad (but obviously all 10 years younger)

It's going to be hilarious if Short does well again today since they already dropped him from the Bangladesh ODI squad

Australia relied on Short, Renshaw and Labuschagne to bowl 10 overs last game. The sad part is here are their Career ODI bowling

Short - 19G, 2 wkts @ 167.00, Econ 5.66
Renshaw - 4G, 0 wkts @ --.--, Econ 6.60
Labu: 67G, 11 wkts @ 33.90 Econ 6.74

Short must come close to the worst ever ODI bowling average?

I was channel surfing the other day and watched 10 mins from the Blast in Pommy land. Nathan McSweeney was playing. Would he be close to the Aussie ODI team - probably a better bowling option than those guys

Reading this could be a 300-350 pitch.

Checking and in 5 of the last 6 games there teams scored over 300 (other game was a N/R with 273 1st innings and 1/109 off 12.5 overs in 2nd)

Pakistan unchanged and Australia dropped Stanlake for Zampa.

So Aus has 3 spinners (plus Short, Renshaw and Labuschagne) and only Ellis for pace (not sure if Green will bowl)
