i think the squad would be much stronger if they made Inglis a "traveling Reserve". Get a decent bat instead while having a back-up keeper and emergency bat on stand-by

I think they are playing on some slower pitches according the SA posters here, hence the 2nd spinner. If a 17th is picked, then its Neser - or O'Neill if Neser can't make it.

I reckon you need to swap a bat for a bowler. 2 back up seamers far more necessary than 2 spare bats (especially when one of the keepers can do that job).

This series is hard to pick I reckon and it's down to a few factors. South Africa haven't played a home Test series for a really long time and no Tests this year. Their best bowler is crocked again having missed most white ball stuff this year and whilst Jansen is a gun, I suspect having Rabada at the other end is a huge factor for his impact. Half their top-6 have the sort of expansive game hit the deck merchants like Cummins and Hazelwood match up well for and they have some miles in the legs. Obviously the Aussie batting is ratshit at the moment but they have a chance to make it up on conditions they should suit, no excuses.

I dunno, might be one of those series where it'll take one bloke to have a blinder and that'll be enough. Think it'll be close.

Id be suprised if even one test went deep into Day 5 at the very least

That's just a reflection of the pitches. Crazy that Smith is still averaging basically 50 in the same conditions all 5 seamers are averaging sub 20

It will either be the world cup final hero Marnus, Green, Carey or Connolly. I prefer Connolly
