English Domestic Season 2026

Hard to imagine thet this won't affect the use of their existing outgrounds, though they have said it won't.

The terraces without seats that can be seen in pictures of the ground are an unusual feature nowadays. Perhaps seats will be added later.

I will definitely pay a visit if the ODC matches are confirmed.
Agree can't see it affecting the use of outgrounds in the championship af least in the short term.

Before Farington the out grounds which missed out on the four day matches had the possibility of a one day cup match. That possibility has diminished.

Don't think they are thinking of adding more seats. Talking up the option of bringing your own.

That said I have little faith in their comms team getting anything right.

They have just had to delete social media posts suggesting members and the public should buy Roses T20 Blast tickets to see Salt and Buttler when England are playing on both the days either side of the Blast match. They could have been accused of mis-selling tickets.

And Coles (48 not out off 30 and 4-18) very much the star of the show in the second too (won by 32 runs).

If Coles carries on like this after his stellar SA20 season he's going to be getting an England call up. You could argue he's offering somewhat more than Bethell at the moment.

Coles looks very talented.
Tribe has something about him too.
Cox didn't really shine. It seems he is next in line outside the squad.

Cox was very good in the comp I will no longer be mentioning last year, but seems like he struggles as soon as he goes up a level. He was awful against the short ball in the W Indies for example.

I've watched Coles a lot over the last 3 years and he's suddenly making massive strides. He hit the viral internet last Summer with one of the filthiest Michele's you'll ever see in the CC, but he's now bowling far better than that. He's making runs at all levels (which is still is main skill) but is bowling continues to have an impact. The more exposure he gets the more he seems to learn, which is a great thing to have.

Tribe is starting to look a potential Test Opener....and there's certainly a vacancy there (or should be anyway).

It's great seeing the early part of a talents journey at your domestic team or system. Had Coles played much out of England before?

Interesting re: Tribe. I would have preferred to gently introduce him but it's Crawley's spot most at risk in the top 6 now that Bethell has come in for Pope.

Looking forward to seeing what you guys do ahead of your test tour here. Who else is in the conversation, Haines and McKinney?

I think Coles had played a bit in those proliferation of Dubai/UAE T20 Leagues, but nothing that serious. I was surprised he was picked up by the SA20, and then very pleasantly surprised by his results. He had played all the England age groups, so was always on the radar. Sussex brought (or were forced to bring) all their youngsters through way too early and many struggled. But Coles was always one who kept his head above the water and then started to excel.

It'll be Tribe or McKinney I suspect. I've seen a lot of Haines too and I just don't see an International Cricketer there. He's more like Duckett (stocky left hander) in that he loves a waft outside off stump.

Next T20 today......

McKinney being like Crawley and Haines like Duckett is probably no coincidence in their selections for the last lions tour then.

Tribe looks a real talent I know he'd been playing for Jersey prior to making his bow in County first team cricket.

But for last season to be first full season to already being talked about England honours is a stellar rise.

Probably played as much if not more first class cricket than others on the Key / McCullum ticket.
