Kent being made to come out and bat again after finally dismissing Durham for 446 with them 77 runs ahead.

This sport really doesn't help itself at times. What a complete waste of everyone time.

Rain has saved sussex from certain defeat at Taunton but Gloucs go down to 5th loss out of 6, while Durham still flying high at the top of div2.

Least of all as poor Dawkins was dismissed. Now had Crawley got out that would've been hilarious.

Well someone paid for it. And the rules stipulate the use of Grade 1 Dukes balls which have an RRP of £145 (although I'm sure the counties pay far less).

Unless I'm out of date, the laws state that either captain may demand a new ball at the start of each innings.

So they could have agreed to use an old ball.

Clause 4.2 of the playing conditions for the championship states: "Law 4.3 (New ball) shall not apply. A new ball shall be used at the start of each innings."

Not sure about Surrey but Lancashire almost named a second team due to unavailability of Buttler, Wells, Livingstone, Salt, Shetty, Dale, Wood, Stanley, Aspinwall.

Even had to name Anderson who is yet to miss a match this season. Hopefully he, Bailey and Balderson will miss out from the 14 with Mahmood, Coughlin, Blatherwick, Green, Hartley and Singh providing sufficient bowling options.

Jimmy played yesterday in the end. Was he injured and unable to bat?

Yes. I didn't notice him leave the field however if he had been fit he would presumably have bowled the final over of the Surrey innings rather than Green.
His three overs were relatively economical and it explained why he didn’t bowl his fourth.
