English Domestic Season 2026

Cricket needs to fix the must start at the same time every day bollocks.

Glorious sunshine in the NE a full days play lost and why they couldn't start at 10:00 is baffling. Especially since on the final day the finish time can't be moved.

Needs to be changed across red ball cricket not just county.

If England had to start playing 10:00-18:30 to get 90 overs bowled in a day they'd sharp get them bowled between 11:00-18:00

Earlier starts if they missed a day should happen really.

I went to Lord's on Saturday. They now have a 'sensory room' for those who find the match atmosphere overwhelming. I doubt they get much traffic on CC days. Indeed the whole ground can be considered a sensory room.

They have no problem if one of the games starts later than the others, there should be absolutely no reason why there’d be any problem with a game starting earlier than the rest. They absolutely should start play at 10 if there’s any play lost the day before, it’s more likely the light will be better then than in the evening!

Currently in the balance, but to be honest, Northants on paper are not one of the leading lights of the division, I think Lancashire will need to show more to get promotion
I'm not especially optimistic about Northants' prospects either in this game or for the season, but unlike most Div 2 sides we do have a decent spin bowling line-up. Calvin Harrison bowled extremely well yesterday, Zaib kept it very tight, McSweeney picked up a wicked and Chahal is returning for the second half of the season. So if we have another dry summer and some of our batsmen can find form, I think we'll pose some challenges.

If I was Jimmy Anderson I'm not sure I'd be looking at Tom Hartley and thinking "There's the man who will spin us to victory." (Famous last words...)

several slow bowlers doing well in april. 2 leggies - Crane & Critchly - taking 5fors in the first match of the season. just like olden times.
