While I'm not totally overawed by the hiring of North, I'm a hell of a lot happier than I would have been, had it been Gough that was hired.Ha ha, pint of (Yorkshire) bitter for Dazza.

50-5 eek!An England Lions side featuring guys not in the Blast playing a decent South Africa A side though not a great start for the Lions https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/scorecard/e-233801#SouthAfricaA
His immediate Test prospects rely on how serious his finger injury is, but what an own goal it would be if Rew takes his place in the white ball side, I wonder what KP would have to say about that!I’m struggling to think how Bethell can be picked ahead of Rew now, he’s just smashing it at every level.
Bethell isn’t.
Yes - might have been better to play a stratch game with teams picked on the day from the 22.Very different approaches to this game from England and South Africa, England have picked a very young squad (granted, many of the players who you’d think would be the next chips off the block are playing in the Blast), whereas most of the South African squad are in their 30s and have played for the main team before. Not saying England should be picking players who are a fair way off selection for the full team, but equally, what is the point in picking someone like Dane Paterson for a tour like this?
Sonny Baker is definitely closest, his time might come very very soon, apart from him, I’d say Henry Crocombe, who is in the Lions squad and might play in the second game against South Africa. Manny Lumsden, James Minto and Alex Green are all teenagers so are a bit further away, but are all very excitingEngland fans who do you think is most exciting fast bowling prospect in county cricket who should get a test cap soon??
thanks for information. What about ajeet singh dale?? Many here on cw mention him as future england player. I was exited since his name sounds like he is British indianSonny Baker is definitely closest, his time might come very very soon, apart from him, I’d say Henry Crocombe, who is in the Lions squad and might play in the second game against South Africa. He's been on the radar for a few years as he’s been in and around Lions squads although I wouldn’t say he’s particularly close to the full team. He’s played one full game for Lancashire, where he looked a bit toothless, then got injured, and has recently had surgerythanks for information. What about ajeet singh dale?? I *think* we’ll play it safe and open with Atkinson and Robinson, then Stokes will come in as first change at some pointSurely it's Rew, especially as he won't be keeping wicket here. And if Stokes is potentially taking the new ball too, he won't want to bat 3.
