Was browsing for comments on a certain third umpire stuff-up (2013 Ashes, involving Usman Khawaja) and came across this excellent opinion from Flem on what should constitute an appeal:

as for how to deal with screamers, it's easy. i've said this before - AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH is not an appeal it is a reaction of fear or pain/suffering. it's also annoying and even if the lbw is deader than mitchell johnson attempting to bowl to kane williamson or indian attempts at humour, the only correct decision is "not out" or "not out, you screaming ****".

for the definitive guide to how to appeal for a dismissal, refer to Howe Zats username. That's an appeal, a question for the umpire. Musfiqur Rahim or Ravindra Straightbreaker having an orgasm is a result.

This should be clarified and implemented at all levels of cricket as it would cut down on the shouting and make the game generally more pleasant.

Considering WI like to play four fast bowlers a lot of the time I think he'd find a place. Facing an attack with him and the two Josephs would be a rather unpleasant experience one feels.

Watched some 1990s English one day tournament highlights recently where Michael Bevan was bowling medium pace. Never knew he did that.

Pakistan now has lower win loss ratio than India in tests. The last and the only time this happened was after Pakistan's debut test in 1952.

Pakistan also has a negative win loss difference in tests now. The last time this happened was at the end of the Oval test 1987.

And it looks like there was three or four ball replacements in the match.

Just goes to show that the speed gun probably wasn't particularly reliable back then. I was at the last day of that game and the two Ws were pretty quick although I think they had been quicker 4 years before when I saw them wreak havoc at the Oval.

Younis was recorded from 140 to 153 in SA in 1993, prior to his serious back injury in 1994, and was distinctly slower afterwards. There's nothing in the footage consistent with them being much faster than those speeds recorded there.

I wasn't trying to say that he was super quick just that I would have guessed he was more 85-88 as an estimate. I remember from that series was that Waqar bowled Mulally with a full toss and the timed speed was actually pretty slow (can't remember what it registered) but although Mulally was a notoriously poor batsman, he said that it was fairly quick. Then again full deliveries tend to be quite sharp. As I say, Waqar definitely wasn't the same pace as in '92 but he was still reasonably sharp as was Wasim. I remember Hick getting done by a fairly rapid yorker.
