Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

I just wanna see NIssanka smash it.
Pathan Nissanka----I watched his run-a-ball,match-winning,fourth innings century v England in 2024.
I can see why you so admire him hb.
However I can't see him "smashing" anything----- he is a dreamy,velvet-type stroke player with an insouciance reminiscent of David Gower.Dhananjaya de Silva and Kusal Mendis are two more batters who could delight spectators with their fluent batting.
Will Kamindu Mendis, who has looked the personification of very efficient run-scoring in his short career, continue his success against a very fine WI pace attack on pitches that may not be batting friendly?

I agree with Gillespie but blame goes to bethell for chosing money over test cricket. Micheal Clarke and ricky ponting didn't play ipl till they retired from test cricket. Aussie pace trio don't play ipl in an ashes year. It depends on A player's commitment rather then on ipl
I don't even care that much about Bethell playing IPL.

It's part of the game now and it could easily impact English test players going forward.

Cook is free to voice that view as Bethell looked like a rabbit in the headlights when he played India last year as he was so undercooked by July.

But he's played a lot more cricket since then and even if not had a red ball knock since the Ashes. If he's fit next week he might still do well.

But it's the bit about tearing down the clown KP that's the bit I've got all the time in the world for

Mate c'mon........you cant equate Bethells standing and choices with the likes of Ponting, Clarke, Cummins et al

Im not a fan at all of the IPL at all but weve got to stop criticising and questioning the priorities of the players that choose to play in it. Professional life as a cricketer can be very short.......a player has every right to cash in while they have the chance to do so.

That said awesome rant from Dizzy and KP can go do one.

That's pretty much where I stand. You can't stop any player from going to the IPL, it's simply too much money for them to ignore and is and will be the biggest paying gig they can get for a few weeks work per year.

The biggest concern for me is that having been given an opportunity since Salt's injury, he totally failed to grasp it and looked in pretty horrible nick (and that playing on some very flat surfaces too).

I'd have far more faith in Rew at 3 than him at the mo.

And the other side of the coin is when does he actually get any red ball time if he is injured for the first test? I note there is a CC game starting 7 June but if he is out for that game, when after that?

I was just checking the fastest ODI 100s
Viv has 2 under 80 balls(72 & 75 balls)
Abbas has 3 100s under balls(72, 76 & 79 balls)

Allan Border has 1 one day century in 78 balls & Sunil Gavaskar has 1 one day century in 85 balls.

Just found it surprising that Border and maybe Gavaskar would have been among the top 10 fastest centuries in one day cricket once upon a time.

Just realised the upcoming Aus international season features Bangladesh (winter tests), England (white ball) and NZ (four tests).

That’s grim. Very grim. Can see lots of empty seats and lack of interest with those three sides touring. CA will be fuming at that scheduling. They’ll be hoping the sesquicentennial test in March 27 rescues an otherwise boring AF summer. The only thing which could make it worse would be an SL test four. Just junk
