I quite agreeRoot's performance against the better sides and/or away from England are depressingly mediocre. He's stat padded against minnows like he's doing an impression of a 00s Sri Lankan
Yeah he only averages 36 in Ireland as well. So damning.Edit: Williamson averages 25 in Eng, 33 in India, 21 in SA and 29 in SL. It's ****ing terrible. His stats are based on bullying West Indies, Zimbabwe etc and was blessed with the flattest roads in history when he happened to tour Australia
See, right there is the problem. If you like I can remove WIlliamson from the list and revert to only 30 names of better 21st century cricketers than Root who I thought of while getting ready for work this morning.
I would appreciate that. Realistically Williamson is an above average international batsman. Not even an ATVG, whereas Root is borderline ATGIf you like I can remove WIlliamson from the list and revert to only 30 names of better 21st century cricketers than Root who I thought of while getting ready for work this morning.
How is Haze better than Dravid?Removed the names I accept as better..........all of the bolded can come straight off the list, the rest are all debatable when assessing across all formats.

Hard to compare such different types of players, so I would guess that when comparing to Root (a batsman) you could more clearly say he's better than Dravid than he's better than Hazlewood. How is Haze better than Dravid?
TBH I find it next to impossible to try and compare bowlers to batsmen........my thought is that Haze was a genuine great across the 3 formats. I don't think Dravids white ball career stacks up as well. How is Haze better than Dravid?
You’re biased thoughRemoved the names I accept as better..........all of the bolded can come straight off the list, the rest are all debatable when assessing across all formats.

The board has spoken.........he's out!!Williamson was player of the tournament in the 2019 WC and clearly robbed of a winner's medal as captain. The bloke averages over 60 in ODI World Cups, whereas Root averages 45.
He also scored 85 off 48 in the 2021 T20 WC final. Had NZ won the toss, he won have won that tournament too and would've been winning captain of all 3 big ICC titles at once after stepping up to be the best batsman of the 2021 WTC final.
One was a very good captain, while the other was a terrible captain.
