They very much are.

A wicketkeeper batsman is swlcted on a dual skills metric just as the batting all rounders are.

I've seen plenty of instances where I've seen both Gilchrist and wicketkeepers referred to as all rounders.

Gilchrist is an all rounder, as is Knott.

I was hoping this thread just honored Imran Khan the cricketer...

One of the great pace bowlers who could bat a bit, then somehow got his batting average up to to 37 to end up being ranked one of the best ever allrounders by some.

To me he'll always be the 2nd best bowler and 3rd best bat of the 1980's era of greatest 4 allrounders. Hadlee best bowler (but Imran really close), with Botham and Dev best bats

Do you think a wicketkeeper batsman is more of an all-rounder than a bowler who bats down the order and is picked for scoring runs? Do you even think bowling all rounders exist then?

Does the wicket keepr batsman play a dual role?

Do they play an all rounder role?

There's literally only one answer to that question.

From as far back as Ames, keepers started to be pucked based also on their batting.

As to your last question, I'll answer it in parts.

1. More wicketkeepers are chosen based on their batting than bowlers are, and not by a insignificant margin.

2. Yes, I belive that a wicket keeper at 7 is more of an all rounder than a bowler batting at 8.

Before you ask, that excludes Imran who was a legit no. 7 test bat and an unquestionable all rounder.

Was Gilchrsit more of an all rounder than Hadlee, easily.

Gilchrist also offers rhe flexibility to slide up to 6 in a pinch to fill the batting all rounder role, allowing additonal bowling.
