Eras matter. At least to me for same tier players

If I have to choose between Hobbs & Sachin, Sachin.
Yeah but like I said, Tiger and Lillee aren't the same tier, It's like saying Alastair Cook is better than Sunil Gavaskar because modern hurr durr, makes zero sense.

Also, Dude, we all know you're hopelessly obsessed with Sachin and all your views are tailored to uphold him, you don't need to mention him in every conversation.

The Centenary Test at Melbourne in 1977 was a massive event. 218 former players were invited, the largest such gathering in history. The Queen was in attendance.

But it was not a celebration of Test cricket. Only of England v Australia. Every single cricketer invited was English or Australian, despite just over a quarter of Tests to that point having involved The Ashes.

The match marked a turning point in cricket writing and broadcasting. For the last time the focus of commentators was almost entirely on The Ashes and the past, appealing to what they believed to be their middle-aged, middle-class audience. Soon the Packer story would break. A few months later Commonwealth leaders at Gleneagles put paid to the return to international sport of apartheid South Africa that MCC and the ACB had been advocating.

Commercial entities became more prominent in covering the game, promoting their product by talking up current/modern players instead of those of long ago. On the field Australia and England no longer called the shots.

Opinions such as those expressed below by Suresh Menon for the BBC in 2010 have become commonplace. Menon was supported by several others including Brian Lara. (Only a week ago The Guardian’s 52 judges voted Warne the greatest-ever Ashes cricketer).

“Is Sachin Tendulkar the greatest cricketer ever? Is he the greatest batsman of all time? The glib answer first. Yes. Because it is in the nature of sport to produce bigger and better champions. In sports where progress can be measured, this is seen in the faster timings, longer jumps and greater heights recorded by modern athletes. Bradman's stature has grown every year that he hasn't played.

Where the careers of Bradman and Tendulkar begin to diverge is in the range and variety of international cricket the Indian has played. There were no one-day internationals in Bradman's time. Bradman toured only England; he only played Tests at 10 venues - five in Australia and five in England. In contrast, Tendulkar has played Tests in 10 countries, one-dayers in 17. He has played at 94 venues.

After 50 [Test hundreds], what? A hundred international centuries (Tendulkar has 96), perhaps a World Cup win, maybe 200 Test matches? Tendulkar has become used to those setting goals on his behalf moving the goalpost as he achieves these with almost monotonous inevitability.”

Seales, Shamar and rourke have only started. Alzarri Joseph averages 33 with bowl.

Jamieson, Robinson are nowhere as skillful and complete as Bond, Harris,Asif. Robinson is basically like Stuart Clarke.
