Dwarshuis is easily the biggest headscratcher there for me, the rest of the picks I can at least understand even if there is a couple I do disagree with, but Dwarshuis barely even plays Shield cricket in the first place and has done pretty much sfa anytime he has

Liam Hatcher too for me. Maybe it's because everyone else is injured, or he's from NSW? Never looked like much of a prospect IMO

I think it shows that Bailey's role as selector has passed its expiry date. There's a fairly hefty list of players I'd take over Stanlake.

Liam Hatcher too for me. Maybe it's because everyone else is injured, or he's from NSW? Never looked like much of a prospect IMO

He made his FC debut in the Finch-Carters match and has taken a whole decade to put together a good FC season (in favourable conditions too). I think that's as telling as anything else.

He did take over 40 wickets last year at Shield level and has wheels so can sort of see why the selectors would take interest. Hasn't he been in Aus-A squads in the past too?

Look at last seasons bowling averages all around though. So many seamers averaged low 20s or even sub-20, a lot of them not even that good

He bowled about 133-135 in his last BBL game I saw. Losing a yard has probably made him more effective on this pitches.

Should remember that picking purely on wickets total got us a Joe Mennie debut. Although IIRC part of the reason the reason he was preferred over Bird was his batting!

Seriously though, real happy with this result, pretty much everyone chipped in at times. Hope to see a few more of these players in the senior team, only Thornton and at a stretch Wadia have actually got decent game time recently, definitely a few others that could do a job especially with the bowling, as opposed to dredging up yet more mediocre English county journeymen to play.

Feel like this is a really big summer for him been the undisputed number 2 keeper here for a while, but with Gilkes being signed now there is definitely major pressure. Neilsen obviously the vastly better gloveman, but definitely has copped criticism for his batting output, can only hope the pressure on him is a good thing

Highly doubt Zampa will be playing much Shield cricket at all, will still be in the Aus white ball setup but even outside of that would be very surprised if they pick him ahead of Swepson in the red ball stuff.

I agree with all of that, it was purely because he lives in Byron Bay and chose Qld (to train I assume) that he might also pick the Heat for his main game

I don't know what he's smoking. Especially talking about needing an extra pace option for India, when our best attack last time had three spinners (granted, would be more comfortable if Green was capable of bowling better). Is he hoping he'll do a Jansen?
