I see Warner has pleaded guilty to drink driving.
But I found this line from his attorney about Easter Sunday somewhat bizarre.........
"He accepts that was a reckless decision, a foolish decision to get in his car instead of taking an Uber."
"It's not a crime to have a glass of wine on the day of the lord's resurrection. In fact, some would consider that completely appropriate," he added.
"His crime is, as I said, choosing a foolish plan A instead of a plan B."
Didn't think this warranted a separate thread, but all recent Warner related threads are daft comparison rubbish, so sticking it here.

Drink driving when your a multi millionaire and you probably make back the uber cost in tiktok clicks during the uber ride is pretty ****ed to begin with. Having the gal to say "ohh your honour having one drink wasn't the problem, choosing not to get the uber was" is even worse and extremely out of touch.
Be interested to know what Warner blew on the bretho. You definitely don't blow over the limit after one glass of red.
Edit: did some research. Apparently he got a reading of 2x the legal limit (0.104) AT THE STATION after they bought him in, not during his drive. Like come on, that's not "I had a glass of red", that's "5 schooners at the pub and hopping in the car afterwards".

far be it from me to defend davey warner but his lawyer did say that he had his last drink eleven minutes before driving so i wouldn't say he was deceptive about it or anything - and i'm a bloke who agrees with you that drink driving is a reckless blight on society not taken seriously enough, such that the bloke doesn't have sympathy here

With 8 bowlers (plus Green and Webster) and 2 keepers already in the current squad of 16 I would think they need to add 3 more bats to make up the 19?

Ahh, he's retired entirely. Shame, but I guess it makes sense with all the injuries over the last couple of years

Not sure one game really shifts thinking that much, plenty of people in the know (and a few that aren't, such as myself) have rated Thompson highly for a fair while. But to answer the question probably not initially, but he's certainly close. McAndrew and Doggett will obviously be picked if fit and available, and Thornton is probably next in line, has delivered pretty much every time he has been called upon in FC cricket. He's probably close but slightly behind Buckingham, who I still rate but seems to have regressed a bit of the last season or two. I guess Johnson would be pretty high up, but I would be surprised if he is available for more than a game or two, if he's fit he will probably be in the Australia white ball setup again

I don't think Buckingham has regressed myself, think he did everything one could expect of the guy who is, in terms of match-ups, the backup to Doggett. He saved his season a bit with the 8 he took vs Tassie in Adelaide but 30 poles at about 30 is a bloody good Shield season. Behind the numbers, he might have only taken 1 or 2 in a dig but those 1 or 2 were often the big 1 or 2, Handscomb, Labuscagne or Harper or some other key player. Offers a lot of value above the raw numbers.
Having McAndrew and Doggett as clear leaders + Buckingham with Thorton, Johnson and Agar nipping at their heels as well an allrounder capable of bowling with the new ball? That's a great problem for SACA selectors to fit them all in, even without all the stars that the Vics have. The rest are gonna have to bowl their balls off to even get a look and the bowling unit doesn't suffer much by subbing in different dudes due to form or injury, which is the squad ideal.

Fully agree on Thorton too. Dude bowled beautifully in the OD final last year and carried that into the following Shield season. Bowls good pace but is hard to get away and picks up the middle/lower order wickets that perhaps Buckingham's game isn't built for. Huge point of difference.

Any news on Lance Morris? Border was in the papers today suggesting we get younger paceman into the squad and mentioned the Sandgroper. But where is he at with his rehab? Hopefully he's getting game time or will soon. I think Thornton is worth a look at if Morris isn't available. But he'd have to upend the rankings for pacemen in Adelaide. I just hope he gets to play regularly and prove things one way or the other.

CA's latest initiative to improve Shield batting and bring spinners into the game is... to make the middle session longer at the expense of the last.

I mean it pretty much is.
Also his work against spin is highly regarded, I won't be surprised if we see him in the Indian squad.
Yeah I was really saying Handscomb has nothing to prove although maybe worth it for his experience and leadership to be a great benefit to the other squad members

Dwarshuis is easily the biggest headscratcher there for me, the rest of the picks I can at least understand even if there is a couple I do disagree with, but Dwarshuis barely even plays Shield cricket in the first place and has done pretty much sfa anytime he has
