Absurdly Awesome Cricket Stats

Jos Butler now the leading run scorer in the history of T20 cricket.
Interesting that he suggested a certain 15 year old Indian will probably break his record. I would think that's unlikely unless he starts playing T20 elsewhere.

Mr Christopher Henry Gayle is still the top run scorer in T20 cricket.

Buttler has 1192 runs that shouldn't count and Pollard has 270 runs that shouldn't count.

Pollard needs another 30 actual T20 runs to go past Gayle

The whole cricketing world gaslight by the ECB and it's separate format that should have always been treated the same as T10 cricket.

It's acceptance that's let the shite in. Embarrassing all the English cricketing ex players/media are playing along with it.

Why don't we add in T10 stats if the Hundred with fewer deliveries than 120 counts?

The reworked list once you take out the Hundred. Ones in bold haven't played it, De Kock drops out of the top 10 once his 100 stats removed.

Buttler not even top for an Englishmen.

Gayle 14,562
Pollard 14,533
Kohli 14,218
Warner 14,084
Hales 13,683
Buttler 13,641
Malik 13,571
Vince 12,566
Rohit 12,531
Babar 12,493

De Kock 12,337

Kohli most shafted including Hundred stats he drops to 6th from 3rd.

Apparently, it counts as T20 as it is essentially 20 overs (with 5 balls in each). He'll no doubt overtake Gayle anyway with a couple more SA20, IPL's, Internationals and an occasional Blast appearance to come.

I also don't think the hundred stats should be included as T20, but I guess it's no different to the one-day games that varied between 50 and 60 overs in the 70's and early 80's

I haven't watched a game apart from when Tammy Beaumont hit a century, but I thought they were allowed to ball 10 balls in a row or did they scrap that?

edit: see they never adapted it so guess it's no real different to List-A having included 40/60 over games in the past. Mind according to AI we were oddballs on that front anyway, continuing 40 over well after most had stopped or never adopted.

CountryLast Official 40-Over List A CompetitionHistorical Context
EnglandSeptember 21, 2013The final of the Yorkshire Bank 40 (YB40). Replaced in 2014 by the 50-over One-Day Cup to mirror international cricket.
South AfricaEarly 2011Reverted from the 40-over MTN 40 and CSA Provincial One-Day formats back to standard 50-over formats ahead of the 2011–12 season.
New Zealand1979–80 SeasonThe domestic competition (now the Ford Trophy) originally featured 40 eight-ball overs until standardising to international six-ball overs.
AustraliaFebruary 1979Like New Zealand, Australia utilized a 40 eight-ball over format for the Gillette Cup until phasing out eight-ball overs entirely in 1979.
West IndiesApril 1973The inaugural West Indian domestic one-day tournament (Banks Trophy) was a 40-over knock-out event played over a single weekend.
India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, BangladeshNever Structurally PlayedThese nations have never operated a scheduled 40-over domestic List A tournament. Their domestic structures went straight into 50-over (or historic 60-over) tournaments.

I think it's more a case that you're allowed to bowl what are essentially 2 overs on the spin. But it's basically T20 Cricket. If they can use rain affected ODI's that go 20 overs a side in the ODI stats, then I see no issue with this in T20.

15 (non keepers) have taken 5 catches in an innings in test cricket. Steve Smith is the only one to do this twice.

Interestingly, he has never taken 4 in an innings. In fact, only one of those 15 players - Stephen Fleming - has done this.

A number of players who took 4 in an innings did this multiple times. Braund, Simpson, Wadekar, Trescothick, Hayden and Jayawardene all doing it twice, with Sobers and Hick managing it three times. Hick’s came against 3 different teams, whilst all 3 times Sobers did it against England.

Brothers Jeff and Martin Crowe both did this, in consecutive tests. Brothers Ian and Greg Chappell also achieved this, with their grandfather Vic Richardson being the very first to take 5 in an innings.

In the last 21 years, 10 players have taken 5 catches in an innings, and 0 players have taken 4.

Apologies, these two are indeed incorrect. The cricinfo main record page actually cuts off after Jayawardene’s second time.

In fact Fleming took 4 catches three times, plus his 5 catch innings. And Sammy, Graeme Smith, Rahane and Markram also took 4 catches once each. Steve Smith indeed has taken 4 catches in an innings twice as well, as have de Villiers, Rahul and Brook.

This also led me to miss the other fun stat, that de Villiers did it twice against Zimbabwe in the one match, and Labuschagne and Brook also did it in the same match.

ABD also jointly holds the record for most catches in a match as a keeper

Ben Duckett averages exactly 40.00 in tests over 46 tests. Not even a rounding error, dead on. Does anyone else average a nice round number after a load of tests?

Damn you Bradman for not scoring a 4!!!

For multiples of 10s, Duckett holds it for now. But well, unlikely to end his career like this. Bill Edrich also averages exactly 40 with 39 Tests.

Bangladesh and England have 0 draws in 10 tests so far the highest among matchups (Aus vs Bangladesh has the potential to reach 7). Ireland has never had a draw in their first 13 matches.

On the other end of the spectrum, the Windies of the early 1970’s have the record for most consecutive draws, at 10.

In every single decade of test cricket we’ve had teams post 500+ scores and scores below 100, aside from the 1870’s.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 92 (81balls) for East Zone in their ongoing Duleep Trophy semi-final.
The 15 year-old wunderkind has now made two 90+ innings in first-class cricket and, presumably,it is when, and not if,he makes that century.
However there is another brilliant dashing left-hander,who actually made FIVE scores in the nineties before finally reaching three figures,a player whose wonderful strokeplay has helped his country win quite a few Tests.
None other than Travis Head.
It should be noted that Sooryavanshi made four scores in the nineties during his recent, amazing IPL campaign.
