Absurdly Awesome Cricket Stats

Damien Martyn had a run of 9 consecutive not outs in ODIs in 2000. It would have been 10 but he was run out on the final ball of a first innings going for a risky run, which broke his streak

An eerily absurdly awesome statistic.
Darryll Cullinan was an accomplished batter,a beautiful stroke-player,but was also renowned as Shane Warne's "bunny".
Sadly,Warne died on 4 March 2022...exactly 55 years after Cullinan was born.

Warnie usually had the last word in their encounters but the South African sometimes had a sharp opening line or two....witness this exchange when Cullinan came to the crease to face the rotund blonde after Shane's one-year suspension for taking drugs had expired:

Warne....Great! I've been licking my lips waiting to bowl at you for a year now.Yum-yum.
Cullinan....I see you've spent most of the time eating!

Lol, Cullinan had retired from international cricket before Warne even got the doping ban. I think it was just between the 94 and 97 series in South Africa

Nathan Astle went from 83* to 222 in the last session at Christchurch in 2002 (v Eng).
Ben Stokes went from 32* to 135* in the last session at Headingley in the 2019 Ashes.
Difference between the 2 is that Astle's knock occurred on Day 4 of the test match which was then completed with the England win.

Stokes did his feat on Day 5.

Jacob Bethell became the youngest England cricketer to score a century in all three formats at 22 years and 133 days old.

What makes this even more remarkable is that the hundreds in different formats are his first ever professional hundreds.

Maiden FC hundred came at the SCG, Sydney Australia in Test Cricket

Maiden List A hundred came against South Africa at The Rose Bowl, Southampton England in ODI Cricket.

Maiden T20 hundred came against India at The Wankhede, Mumbai India in T20I Cricket.

This stat may never happen again , scoring your first professional hundred in FC , List A and T20 all at international level in 3 different continents !.

Outside of internationals he averages 26/24/22 across the 3 formats with nil centuries. Crazy really.

what about last session of a test match? anyone done that?
This is a better example: Dwayne Smith scored 105* in the final session on day 5.

Two other example (like the above, both in drawn Tests): Alan Melville scored 104* in the final session of the 1947 Test at Nottingham, and Jack Russell scored 102* in the final session of the 1921 Oval Test. (Both those games seem to have had long final sessions: the first lasted 51 overs, the second 58).

The youngest player to score a FC hundred is Mohammad Akram from Pakistan at the age of 12 years and 217 days. Found it quite shocking to be honest. Age fudging is quite prevalent in this part of the world so don't know if it was his real age. The top names are from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

Outside of these three countries, the youngest player is Dhruv Pandove from India. Born in Patiala, Punjab, he scored his first FC hundred at the age of 14 years and 293 days. He was the youngest player to score 1000 runs in Ranji Trophy as well. Unfortunately, he died in a road accident at the age of 18 in 1992.

Outside of the subcontinent, the record is held by Frederick Midlane from New Zealand who made his maiden hundred at Basin Reserve back in 1899/00 at the age of 16 years and 277 days.
