2025-26 New Zealand domestic season

We have to be looking at Tim Robinson as a Test option in the next 12-18 months, right? We picked him on the basis of one big T20 knock and that's panned out well. He just seems to have that attitude that can translate into international success. Showed v Australia he has the stuff.

Not sure you'd open him but definitely a thought for the middle order once Mitchell goes

Robinson looks to have dropped down to 5 or 6 this season for Wellington.

In Robinson and Jacobs. And to a lesser demonstrated extent also with Boyle and Stackpole. We are building up depth in the happy/slappy number 5 role.

Wellington don't know their batting order though. All and sundry seem to have a go at opening, and then next week they're down at 7. Wellington to me are all over the show this year.

Could also be GP at 5, Abbas 6 (handy to have his left armers), Hay 7 - with Ravindra moving to 3 when Kane retires (if RR tightens up), and one of those you've mentioned at 4.

In an almost scandalous display of a lack of depth, after Rae's callup to the test team. Canterbury appear to have run out of blackcaps seam bowlers and have called up a domestically uncapped player (Callum Cameron) to be probable 12th man.

Also, Cam Paul returns this round.

Cameron gets a debut. Not sure where McKenzie is (dropped? injured? called up to the test team?) or Matt Rowe.

Also a debut for Wellington spinner Elliot Seddon in Whangarei. About time they decided to play two spinners.

Meanwhile, Ben Lister is 12th man for Auckland in favour of including 2 specialist spinners and 0 specialist pacers at Hagley. Doesn't augur brilliantly for a potential Black Caps call-up.

CD pacer and hitter Oscar Mabin also gets his debut.

Lister is returning from injury, first PS game last week, I assume 12th man this round due to workload management.

Looks like a howler from Cotton to dispose of Jacobs. Hardly anything hitting Jacobs' back thigh is out and that was a long way up and he was outside his crease.

Yeah that's a shocker.

What's the story with Davey anyway? A couple more cheap wickets today means he has the lowest FC bowling average on the entire list I posted over in the other thread. But he's 32 and is only playing his 20th FC match for his 66 wickets. Can't be just a late bloomer as he was in NZ U19s years ago. Any idea why he took so long to break into domestic cricket?

I think i reas somewhere a few weeks ago when Mabin was 12th man, that he is the first Wanganui player to play for CD in crazy long time.

Looks like a decent-sized unit with a bustley sort of action.

Whereas Cameron looks spindly and his wicket of Stackpole was a gift, really.
