My main issue with the take isn't that some think (wrongly) that Webster wasn't fully in control by the time he disposed of it. It's that if that were the case surely the fact that the ball made contact with the ground before he was fully in control would already disqualify it from being a clean catch
Webster doesn't dispose of his body.......?

The MCC law is:

33.3 Making a catch

The act of making a catch shall start from the time when the ball first comes into contact with a fielder’s person and shall end when a fielder obtains complete control over both the ball and his/her own movement.

Webster is not in complete control of his own movement when he releases the ball, just like Gibbs. It's nothing to do with complete control of the ball. it's to do with his body still being in movement

Nah, he definitely was. Why would you think he wasn't? He didn't stumble, fall, overbalance. He was in complete control
the MCC position is if you're still in the middle of diving, you're not in control of your body movement and therefore you haven't completed a catch yet. beau webster was still in the middle of his tumble roll when he throws away the ball, so he hadn't completed the catch before releasing the ball, therefore not out. luckily, it's very easy for every player to avoid this problem, they can simply hold onto the ball.

I just hope GAS is passing this discussion onto the South Australian fielders. you'd hate for Victoria to win the shield by one wicket because a fielder carelessly throws away the ball in celebration before they've completed a catch
