England were completely thrown by the opening score(s) and had no way back in. Watching after the fact I felt deeply aggrieved by the build up to the yellow card (huge forward pass), the card itself, and both added up to land the opening try. So if it had been a close game, I'd probably have...

In Dawson's defence - which is not something I'm usually moved to do - I daresay he's been stitched up here. He had said that England were favourites - which was true - before the game but that he felt that wasn't everything and Scotland could well win.

Can Ireland please have the manners to either beat their spread or lose. Currently honing in on the one unsatisfying outcome

TBF, Furlong is coming back from injury and came on at half time. Re JGP, I think part of the discourse around Ireland lately is an over-reliance on those who made the 2015-2023 side so good, so an attempt to use him more sparingly is probably a response to that.

It's a harsh call but I'd be spitting if that try were allowed against my team.

The Italian scrum is apparently a thing of beauty this year. Visitors have definitely had a forwards advantage and the Irish half backs aren't really experienced enough to deal with the problem. That said I don't think Italy have quite made it count - their try was at least partly the result...

I've spend a good portion of this week arguing that Ireland should really win comfortably at home against Italy, and reports of Irish demise have been greatly exaggerated. I can only apologise.

Getting the notion that last weeks results have led people to think Ireland-Italy in Dublin is closer than it is. Meanwhile I would gratefully and eagerly take a 1 point win at Murrayfield if offered. Wales doing nothing to counter the allegations though. Buy Sell Buy

So did we all remember Carlos Braithwaite's name?

I was watching cricket in the pub a few years ago - I think it was a T20 world cup - and I overheard a couple of nearby fans talking about Kraigg Brathwaite having hit those sixes against Stokes. So at least someone didn't remember it.

I would probably give England about a 70% chance of beating either of Scotland away or Ireland at home, which means doing both and setting up the potential decider in Paris is pretty much a coin flip.

As improved as Italy are, narrowly beating a bad performance from Scotland in a rainstorm at home doesn't really mean they are set up to pull off a win in Dublin or London. I think that's a bridge too far for them right now. I am seeing a fair bit from disgruntled Ireland fans on the socials...

Some finish from Freeman at the end. Odd to feel like England really should have put more on them, an idea which does seem a little ungrateful. But when the result has been obvious for an hour your thoughts are bound to be towards the margin.

I thought that was pretty obviously in touch live, surprised it was initially given. High shot feels a bit harsh given that he was diving for the line, but you probably ought to make it at least close to a normal tackle to get the benefit of the doubt.
