Which era of Test Cricket was superior?

You just shared the sentiments of all those posters who have given up debating with you.

Which era of Test Cricket was superior?

And what has that got to do with conversing and getting to know about cricket back in those days?

Which era of Test Cricket was superior?

A better question to ask him is the international cricketers he played alongside. Worried that your assumptions would be exposed? Otherwise I don't see a reason why you wouldn't want to debate and get to know how it actually felt playing back in that era.

    Ian Botham vs Aubrey Faulkner

Disqualified for what? Aren't you the guy who even creates hypothetical scenarios to compare players?

All-Time New Zealand XIs - ODIs

I'm also surprised with the middle order being a tad one-dimensional 3. Kane 4. Crowe 5. Ross 6. Mitchell And Cairns is not an outright power hitter who goes from ball one as mentioned earlier.

All-Time New Zealand XIs - ODIs

Ideally Crowe should fit in here based on talent alone. But two no.3s and two no.4s leaves one batter way out of position plus Cairns at no.7 while he is so used to batting in the top 6. Another factor being the next best NZ XI will have a drastic decline in talent at the no.3 and/or no.4 spots.

Choose 1 combo : Akram & Ambrose vs Donald & McGrath

Dravid must be an ATG based on this criteria. Was a silver lining for India in overseas games. Almost every overseas victory has a Dravid's stamp of authority on it.

    Is defensive cricket better?

Many here agree that balance is the key. The best example that comes to my mind right now is deVilliers. He has shown his ability to attack and defend with equal precision in tests. Even the most agressive batters did let a tough situation pass (if needed) before they went into attack mode...

    Is defensive cricket better?

Looks like you are talking about cricketers themselves. Did the likes of Atherton, Chanderpaul, Dravid, and your fav. Kallis whisper it to you in private?

    Is defensive cricket better?

Your mindset towards defensive cricket is very defensive. You're looking at defending as a defensive attitude towards defending. But defending is more than just defending. It is giving your team an opportunity to defend your way to a victory. ;)

How and when did you started following cricket seriously?

The ODI leg of India tour of Australia 91-92, just prior to the 92 WC. But more interestingly my grandfather had video casette recordings of games from late 1970s and 80s. Got hooked to cricket by watching those old tapes, especially the 1985 world series.

    Asia's greatest spin-bowling all-rounder

The only thing I find delusional is how you rate Shakib above Jaddu coz he was literally the only star player in the side. But the same logic doesn't apply to Warne vs Murali. ;)

    Asia's greatest spin-bowling all-rounder

You do realise that India were in trouble a lot of times right with their fickle middle order? Coming in to bat at 150/5 (basically when the team was in a hole) to save the teams a** is not as simple as you are making it out to be to fit your agenda. And it has happened a lot of times in last...

    Asia's greatest spin-bowling all-rounder

For all the over-the-top analysis that you do, I wonder how you missed the fact that Jadeja has saved India's a** in batting for a good half a decade. While India's middle order has been mediocre for a long time now, and continues to be in pursuit of finding stability, it's Pant and Jadeja who...

    Asia's greatest spin-bowling all-rounder

But he didn't. And Jadeja did. And Jadeja had great numbers and performances to back the result of this poll.
